Position Overview

A Clinical Laboratory Technician (CLT) or Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) plays a crucial role in the field of laboratory medicine. This professional is responsible for collecting patient samples, conducting precise analytical assessments following established protocols, validating results, and communicating findings to the relevant healthcare professionals. A CLT/CLS must ensure the utmost accuracy in all reported outcomes and exhibit compassion and professionalism in all interactions with patients.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Maintain regulatory compliance and oversee the daily operations of the laboratory.
  • Support the leadership team in managing the laboratory environment effectively.

Work Schedule: Regular daytime hours with a rotation every 6th weekend, occasional shifts from noon to 8 p.m., and participation in holiday rotations.

Essential Qualifications:
  • Associate degree in Medical Laboratory Technology or a related field that meets the certification criteria set by the National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Science or the Department of Health and Human Services as a Medical Technologist (HEW), along with a High School Diploma.

  • Bachelor's degree with coursework in biological and physical sciences or a baccalaureate-level clinical laboratory education program accredited by the National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Science or an equivalent recognized body, and current certification as a Medical Technologist (MT) or similar by a national registry such as ASCP. New graduates eligible for certification are also considered.
Desirable Qualifications:
  • At least 1 year of experience in a clinical or hospital laboratory setting; proficiency in keyboarding and computer systems; familiarity with the EPIC system is advantageous.
  • Training in phlebotomy and experience in drawing blood from patients of all ages, from infants to the elderly, is preferred.
