Job Description
We are seeking a Clinical Laboratory Technician (40 hours per week) to join our team.
Schedule:
Monday to Friday, 3:00 pm - 11:30 pm
Position Summary:
The Clinical Laboratory Technician will conduct essential laboratory testing for the detection, diagnosis, and prognosis of diseases. This role involves collaboration with the laboratory team to deliver testing services to clients. Additional responsibilities may be assigned at the discretion of the Supervisor/Manager/Director.
Position Responsibilities:
Duties may include but are not limited to the following:
- Adhere to established laboratory procedures for the proper handling and processing of specimens.
- Perform laboratory procedures of moderate and high complexity in accordance with standards outlined in sectional laboratory protocols.
- Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of all technical procedures and laboratory instrumentation operations.
- Operate and manipulate both simple and complex laboratory equipment, including computers; perform maintenance and limited repairs as necessary.
- Assist in the orientation and training of new personnel and monitor their progress.
- Conduct quality control procedures for each method and maintain accurate records.
- Review and analyze quality control data, identify trends or issues, and take appropriate corrective actions.
- Diagnose and document any laboratory instrument or reagent problems, performing preventative and corrective maintenance as needed.
- Ensure accuracy and completeness of results prior to release in the Laboratory Information System.
- Follow protocols for the acceptance/rejection of patient results.
- Participate in the evaluation and development of new procedures, methods, and instruments.
Minimum Qualifications (required vs. preferred):
REQUIRED:
Associates of Science degree in medical technology, chemistry, biology, or a related life science, meeting CLIA personnel standard criteria.
State Licensure, where applicable.
Mathematical, computer, reasoning, and language skills at the college level (2 years).
PREFERRED:
ASCP or other national certification.
One year of relevant work experience.
Physical Demands:
Medium work involving lifting up to 50 pounds and/or carrying objects weighing up to 25 pounds. Responsible for lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling objects.
