The Surgical Coordinator is responsible for managing and coordinating the administrative aspects of surgical procedures within SWCA. This role ensures that all necessary preparations are in place for surgeries, including scheduling, patient communication, and coordination with surgical teams and other healthcare professionals. The Surgical Coordinator plays a crucial role in ensuring a smooth and efficient surgical process, providing excellent patient care and support throughout the surgical journey. Key Responsibilities Scheduling and Coordination Schedule surgeries and procedures, coordinating with patients, surgeons, anesthesiologists, and operating room staff. Ensure all pre-operative and post-operative appointments are scheduled. Coordinate with insurance companies for pre-authorizations and verify patient eligibility and benefits. Patient Communication and Support Serve as the primary point of contact for patients undergoing surgery, providing detailed instructions and answering questions. Prepare and distribute pre-operative and post-operative instructions and educational materials. Assist patients with completing necessary paperwork and forms. Documentation and Records Management Maintain accurate and up-to-date surgical records, including patient charts, consent forms, and surgical schedules. Ensure all required documentation is obtained and filed appropriately. Track and follow up on surgical outcomes and patient recovery progress. Team Collaboration Collaborate with the surgical team, nursing staff, and other healthcare professionals to ensure seamless surgical operations. Participate in pre-operative and post-operative meetings and briefings. Coordinate with the billing department to ensure accurate and timely billing of surgical procedures. Compliance and Quality Assurance Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, policies, and procedures related to surgical coordination and patient care. Monitor and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) related to surgical coordination. Participate in quality improvement initiatives and contribute to the development of best practices. Education High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree in a related field preferred. Experience Minimum of 2 years of experience in a medical administrative or surgical coordination role, preferably in a pain management or surgical setting. Skills Strong organizational and time-management skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment. Proficiency in medical terminology and understanding of surgical procedures. Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR) systems and scheduling software. Certifications: Certified Surgical Coordinator (CSC) certification preferred.
