The Surgical Operations Coordinator is vital in facilitating a seamless and effective surgical experience, delivering exceptional patient care and assistance throughout the surgical process.

Key Responsibilities
  • Scheduling and Coordination: Organize surgeries and procedures, liaising with patients, surgeons, anesthesiologists, and operating room personnel. Ensure all pre-operative and post-operative appointments are arranged.
  • Coordinate with insurance providers for pre-authorizations and confirm patient eligibility and benefits.

Patient Communication and Support: Act as the main contact for patients undergoing surgical procedures, offering comprehensive instructions and addressing inquiries.

  • Prepare and disseminate pre-operative and post-operative guidelines and educational resources.
  • Assist patients in completing necessary documentation and forms.

Documentation and Records Management: Maintain precise and current surgical records, including patient charts, consent documents, and surgical schedules.

  • Ensure all required paperwork is collected and filed correctly.
  • Monitor and follow up on surgical outcomes and patient recovery progress.

Team Collaboration: Work in conjunction with the surgical team, nursing staff, and other healthcare professionals to guarantee smooth surgical operations.

  • Engage in pre-operative and post-operative meetings and discussions.
  • Coordinate with the billing department to ensure accurate and timely invoicing of surgical services.

Compliance and Quality Assurance: Ensure adherence to all pertinent regulations, policies, and procedures related to surgical coordination and patient care.

  • Monitor and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) associated with surgical coordination.
  • Participate in quality enhancement initiatives and contribute to the formulation of best practices.
Education
A high school diploma or equivalent is required; an Associate's or Bachelor's degree in a relevant field is preferred.
Experience
A minimum of 2 years of experience in a medical administrative or surgical coordination capacity, ideally in a pain management or surgical environment.
Skills
  • Strong organizational and time-management abilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Capability to operate effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic setting.
  • Proficiency in medical terminology and comprehension of surgical procedures.
  • Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR) systems and scheduling software.

Certifications:
Certified Surgical Coordinator (CSC) certification is preferred.
