WSP is currently initiating a search for an **Assistant Vice President of Health, Safety, Environment (HSE)

The **Assistant Vice President of HSE-FRA and Federal DOT Compliance **is a leadership role responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing the organization's FRA and DOT Compliance programs within the HSE Center of Innovation. This role plays a critical part in ensuring a safe and compliant work environment, promoting a culture of caring and minimizing health and safety risks. The Assistant Vice President provides leadership, guidance, and expertise in all matters related FRA and DOT compliance.

Your Impact
- Ensure full compliance with FRA and Federal DOT regulations and standards across all company operations.
- Monitor regulatory changes and update company policies and procedures accordingly.
- Liaise with federal and state regulatory bodies to address compliance issues and facilitate inspections.
- Conduct risk assessments and develop strategies to mitigate safety and environmental risks.
- Foster a proactive safety culture through leadership, training, and engagement initiatives.
- Oversee regular audits and inspections of facilities, equipment, and operations to ensure compliance with FRA and DOT standards.
- Prepare detailed audit reports and oversee the implementation of corrective actions.
- Track the effectiveness of corrective measures and ensure continuous compliance.
- Develop and deliver training programs focused on FRA and DOT regulations, safety protocols, and environmental stewardship.
- Ensure all staff are well-trained and compliant with relevant safety and environmental standards.
- Maintain up-to-date training records and certification documentation.
- Establish and communicate health and safety policies, procedures, and objectives.
- Stay updated on relevant health and safety regulations, ensuring the organization's compliance with local, state, and federal laws.
- Establish and maintain relationships with regulatory agencies and represent the organization in regulatory matters.
- Lead investigations into rail and transportation-related incidents and accidents to determine root causes.
- Develop and implement preventive measures based on investigation findings.
- Prepare and submit incident reports to the FRA, DOT, and other relevant authorities.
- Monitor and analyze health and safety data to identify trends and areas for improvement.
- Communicate effectively with employees, management, and external stakeholders on health and safety matters.
- Foster partnerships with internal and external organizations to exchange best practices.
- Collaborate with other departments, including Operations, Maintenance, and Human Resources, to integrate HSE efforts.
- Lead and mentor HSE staff, fostering professional growth and development.

Who You Are

**Required Qualifications**
- Bachelor's in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field or equivalent years of experience
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in HSE management, with a focus on FRA and Federal DOT compliance.
- Deep knowledge of FRA and Federal DOT regulations and standards.
- Proven track record in developing and implementing HSE programs and conducting audits.
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and HSE management software.
- Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple initiatives.
- Must successfully complete and pass WSP’s Motor Vehicle screening.

**Preferred Qualifications**
- Master's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field.
