Working under the direction of the Film and Television Archive Motion Picture Curator, the Archival Collections Assessment Coordinator [ACAC] is responsible for organizing historical documentation held at the Archive and coordinating efforts to normalize current and past agreements with the eventual goal of clarifying potential access opportunities. The ACAC is responsible for physically scanning and digitally organizing confidential Archive donor and depositor files. Additionally, the ACAC assists Motion Picture (MP) and Television (TV) Curators in clarifying access restrictions and identifying potential open access opportunities in the Archive's collections utilizing information in these files. In collaboration with the MP and TV Curatorial teams and in coordination with legal counsel at UCLA Library, the ACAC reviews and collates hard copy donor and depositor records to categorize select documents for scanning and conduct related external database research to determine copyright, public domain status, or commercial availability of select collections. In collaboration with digital infrastructure staff, and cataloging and curatorial teams, the ACAC assists in developing systems for secure electronic storage, indexing, and retrieval of select donor and depositor documents. The ACAC collaborates with the Archive director, curatorial team, and legal counsel to identify select agreements for updating or revision to support and promote enhancing access to archival collections including assisting MP and TV Curatorial teams with renegotiating existing agreements with donors and depositors. As part of ongoing work, the ACAC will formally track progress and write and present reports and recommendations to relay research findings to staff. The ACAC collaborates with the Archive Director, Curators, and Media Licensing staff in the development of strategies, new policies, and workflows to maximize open access to Archive collections and present licensing opportunities as applicable.**Salary & Compensation**

**Qualifications**
- Experience working in a moving image archive, film library, or similar organization. (required)
- Experience utilizing media bibliographic sources, moving image archival resources and listservs to determine the copyright status of media holdings. (required)
- Experience utilizing other electronic reference resources to research & locate donor/depositor contacts to determine the copyright status of media holdings. (required)
- Demonstrated experience and working knowledge of standard word processing; team collaboration software (preferably Google Docs, Confluence, Jira and/or Slack). (required)
- Demonstrated experience and working knowledge of data base management programs such as Google Sheets, Word, Excel, FileMaker Pro and/or the Archive’s OPAC (Alma/Primo). (required)
- Skill in analyzing information, assignments, situations, practices, and procedures in order to: define an objective, identify relevant concerns or needs, formulate logical and objective conclusions, and recognize alternatives and their implications. (required)
- Skill in working independently and following through on assignments with mínimal supervision or direction. (required)
- Skill in writing concise, logical, grammatically correct business correspondence, acknowledgment letters, reports, internal memoranda, work procedures, and other job-related documents. (required)
- Skill in speaking clearly and distinctly using appropriate vocabulary and grammar to convey and obtain information with individuals in various contexts, both within and outside of the Archive. (required)
- Skill in reading standard English text, such as business correspondence, Archive inventory records, policy and procedure manuals, reference works, and internal memoranda. (required)
- Skill in accurately transcribing data from Archive forms, inventory records, collection files, databases, and reference works. (required)
- Working knowledge of and ability to operate standard office equipment, including computers and the appropriate software, scanners and copiers, telephones, etc. (required)
- Working knowledge of the history of motion pictures and television, as a business, means of communication, entertainment medium, and cultural force, with emphasis on U.S. film and TV production and media management. (preferred)
- Working knowledge of the general policies and procedures of the UCLA Film & Television Archive and UCLA Library as they affect the Archive’s motion picture and television collections and activities. (preferred)
