Payroll Specialist

**POSITION OVERVIEW**

The primary purpose of your job is to processes weekly and bi-weekly Payrolls in a timely and accurate manner. This position partners with Human Resources and other departments to ensure proper flow of employee data and information, and performs customer service to answer questions and resolve issues.

**Duties and Responsibilities**:

- Manage end-to-end payroll processing, including data entry, calculations, and verification.
- Ensure accurate and timely processing of payroll for all employees.
- Maintain employee records and ensure confidentiality of sensitive information.
- Collaborate with the HR department to ensure accurate employee data and resolve any discrepancies.
- Prepare and distribute paychecks or direct deposits to employees.
- Process tax withholdings, deductions, and garnishments accurately.
- Reconcile payroll accounts and resolve any discrepancies.
- Generate payroll reports for management review.
- Stay updated on changes in payroll regulations and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws.
- Assist with audits related to payroll processes.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and calculations.
- Solid understanding of accounting principles, particularly in relation to payroll and accounts payable.
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills for reconciling accounts and resolving discrepancies.
- Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with employees and management.
- Assist with payroll to ensure all duties are completed consistently, accurately, and in a timely manner. Review and post all incoming data from various departments, including gratuities and PTO requests.
- Ensure all timecards are properly prepared and approved by employees & department heads. Ensure all timecards edits are approved by employee and department heads.
- Responsible for accurate and timely completion of garnishments, EDD & Government Support Services notices.
- Knowledge of all California wage & hour laws pertaining to payroll.
- Extreme confidentiality required.

NOTE: This description is not intended to be all-inclusive. Other related duties may be assigned as required in addition to the principle duties outlined above.

SUPPORTIVE FUNCTIONS

In addition, this position may be required to perform a combination of the following supportive functions, with the percentage of time performing each function to be solely determined by the manager based upon the particular requirements of The Ranch:

- Assist with benefits administration and enrollment and ensure premiums are properly posted for deductions.
- Assist with recruitment, reviewing resumes, scheduling interviews, offer letters, background checks and employment verifications.
- Calendar management.
- Attend significant meetings (note-taking, follow through).
- Filing, data entry.
- Provide all administrative support as needed to Human Resources and Accounting.

Pay: Salary Exempt From $70,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year

**Requirements For The Position**

**Education and Licensing**:
High school or equivalent education required. Bachelor’s Degree preferred.

**Skills and Experience**:
Minimum 2 years working at luxury hotel/resort in Payroll, Human Resources and Recruitment. Bilingual English / Spanish. Experience with payroll systems such as Paycom or other like systems. Working knowledge of MS Office and Office 365 required.

**Grooming**:
All employees must maintain a neat, clean and well-groomed appearance per The Ranch standards.

**Competencies**:
The individual must possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities and be able to explain and demonstrate that he or she can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of knowledge, skills, and abilities:

- Must be able to speak, read and write the primary language(s) used in the workplace. Bilingual English/Spanish required.
- Must have excellent verbal, written, communication and organizational skills.
- Must be a self-starter and proactive.
- Ability to solve problems and make rational decisions.
- Good cognitive skills are essential.
- Ability to work at a computer for 8 or more hours per day, while answering the phone and typing information and ability to multi-task.
- Good working knowledge of The Ranch, its services and facilities.
- Must be able to execute projects and delegate as necessary and high level of discretion and ability to keep things confidential.
- Must be detail oriented and have exceptional customer service and social skills.

**Physical Demands**:

- Most work tasks are performed indoors. Temperature generally is moderate and controlled by The Ranch environmental systems.
- Must be able to sit at a desk for up to 8 hours
