- Department Information
- The California Department of Developmental Services (DDS) is the agency through which the State of California provides services and supports to individuals with developmental disabilities.
- These disabilities include intellectual disability, cerebral palsy, epilepsy, autism and related conditions. Services are provided through state-operated developmental centers and community facilities, and contracts with 21 nonprofit regional centers. The regional centers serve as a local resource to help find and access the services and supports available to individuals with developmental disabilities and their families.

Desirable Qualifications
- Knowledge of: Principles, practices, and trends of public and business administration, management, and supportive staff services such as budgeting, data and management analysis. The Lanterman Developmental Disabilities Services Act, developmental disabilities, the RC service system, and processes and protocols in California state government.

Ability to: Reason logically and creatively and utilize a variety of analytical techniques to resolve complex RC and community service provider issues. Develop data reporting systems, analyze data and present ideas and information effectively both orally and in writing. Gain and maintain the confidence and cooperation of those contacted during the course of work. Develop and maintain cooperative and harmonious relationships with department and RC staff, the public and others; work with professional personnel in the field relating to coordinating and developing services for persons with developmental disabilities.
