Job Summary

The successful candidate will lead the development and implementation of strategic initiatives to foster a supportive and inclusive university community for Middle Eastern and North African students, faculty, and staff.

Key Responsibilities
  • Leadership and Strategic Planning: Develop and implement comprehensive plans to advance MENA student success, retention, and engagement.
  • Program Development and Management: Design and manage programs, services, and initiatives to support MENA students, including academic support, cultural events, and community engagement.
  • Collaboration and Partnerships: Foster strong relationships with campus stakeholders, including faculty, staff, and student organizations, to promote MENA student success and inclusion.
  • Teaching and Education: Teach courses and provide education on the history, culture, and experiences of the Middle East and North Africa.
  • Policy Development and Advocacy: Develop and advocate for policies and procedures that promote diversity, equity, and inclusion for MENA students and faculty.
  • Communication and Outreach: Develop and implement effective communication strategies to promote MENA initiatives and engage with the university community.
Requirements
  • Master's Degree: Required.
  • Experience: Minimum of three years of progressive experience in program development, recruitment, retention, and support activities for MENA and underrepresented students in higher education, non-profit agencies, community organizations, public school districts, or governmental units.
  • Skills: Excellent oral and written communication skills, advanced analytical and problem-solving skills, ability to work some evenings and weekends, and ability to ensure and apply compliance with legal, financial, and university policies and external regulations.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Doctoral Degree: Earned Doctorate or terminal degree in a relevant academic field and (5 years) progressive experience in program development, recruitment, retention, and support activities for MENA and underrepresented students in higher education, non-profit agencies, community organizations, public school districts, or governmental units.
  • Teaching Experience: Experience teaching at the college level.
  • Program Development: Experience assisting in developing intercultural programs at the university level.
  • Strategic Planning: A demonstrated understanding of strategic planning, experience utilizing data and assessment to inform decision making, and effective program advocacy skills.
