**Program Manager Position Description**
**Status**:Non-Exempt, Full-Time (40 hours/week)
**Compensation**: $28/hour
**Reports to**:Program Director
**ORGANIZATION AND PROGRAM**:
Rise Up Industries is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization with a mission to minimize gang involvement through an integrated approach of gang prevention, gang intervention, and post detention reentry services. The gang prevention program, named Rise Up Leadership Academy (RULA), is the second program in our three-pronged (prevention, intervention, reentry) approach to minimizing gang involvement.
RULA is designed to serve youth who are at risk of gang recruitment. The pilot program is set to launch at the beginning of the school year in August 2024. The first cohort will consist of up to twenty 5th graders from Rosa Parks Elementary School in City Heights. These students will remain in the program through high school graduation, with a new cohort of 5th graders enrolling each year.
RULA will operate at the adjacent recreation center, providing a safe, welcoming, and fun community where youth can engage in healthy activities such as sports, recreation, and tutoring. The program will be available after school, on Saturdays, and during school breaks.
**DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**:
Under the supervision of the Program Director, the Program Manager is primarily responsible for the daily onsite management of the Rise Up Leadership Academy (RULA). The Program Manager oversees and collaborates with the non-exempt, part-time Youth Program Leaders (YPL) to ensure the supervision of program participants and the creation of a safe and welcoming environment.
**Specific tasks include, but are not limited to, the following**:
- Coordinating the weekly work schedule for YPLs
- Developing the weekly activities schedule
- Maintaining attendance rosters
- Ensuring appropriate adult supervision is maintained
**MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS**:
- Relevant B.A. degree or four or more years of experience in a role requiring similar skill sets.
- Knowledge of the developmental, educational, and supportive needs of children and young adults at risk of gang involvement.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Detail-oriented with excellent communication and organizational skills.
**INTERACTION**:
This position requires close interaction with program participants who exhibit risk factors for gang involvement, behavioral or academic concerns, and other social-emotional needs. The ability to engage appropriately and professionally with these youth is essential.
