Catering & Conference Services Manager
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Reports to Director of Catering
- Services accounts from corporate and SMERF
- Sell catering events & service/upsell banquets in order to achieve catering goals
- Perform administrative duties which are necessary to facilitate the success of all events including but not limited to: rooming Lists, resumes, BEOs.
- Must posses knowledge and understanding of the market and competitive set to be able to creatively sell as well as set us apart from our competition
- Proactively conduct solicitation calls to increase revenue and attain revenue goals
- Must have strong negotiation skills to maximize revenue and close contracts
- Develop and maintain strong client relationships
- Must have flexible schedule to work nights and weekends when required
- Act as the primary liaison between the client and the hotel operations team to ensure the success of the event and/or room blocks
- Assist the client in menu planning, food and beverage coordination, room set-up, group room blocks and VIP services, etc.
- Conduct site tours
- Ensure all BEO paperwork & resumes are completed in a timely and accurate manner
- Attend resume, BEO and sales meetings as required
- Monitor and manage room blocks and meeting space according to contracts
- Review and handle group and catering billing
- Handle group and VIP amenities
- Inspect function space and make sure meeting space is set up correctly for meetings
- Must be able to perform other functions within the sales and catering scope as required.
- Participate in tradeshow(s) if needed
Physical Requirements:
- Sitting: Frequently. Standard office furniture
- Standing/Walking: Occasionally. To transfer documents, files, memos to other parts of the hotel
- Crouching: Occasionally. Place or retrieve items from floor or lower shelves.
- Stooping: Frequently. To place or retrieve files.
- Twisting: Frequently. Conversing with guests, working on computer
- Handling: Frequently. Typing, computer keyboard, papers, files, phone
- Grasping: Frequently. Opening doors and drawers.
- Pushing/Pulling: Occasionally. 20 lbs. - chairs, file drawers, filing systems.
- Lifting/Carrying: Occasionally. 10 lbs. - dockets, ledgers, binders, data, and small tools
Working Environment:
- Interior of hotel, in all areas of the hotel.
- Exterior of hotel with exposure to weather conditions.
