Job Summary

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Catering Captain to join our team at McCalls Catering & Events. As a Catering Captain, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth execution of events and activities, providing exceptional customer service, and maintaining a high level of quality in our catering services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan, assign, and direct work for catering employees to ensure efficient event execution.
  • Maintain labor costs by adhering to schedules and managing staff effectively.
  • Interact with staff and customers during events, providing excellent customer service and ensuring a positive experience.
  • Assist with event setup, including preparing and arranging event rooms, and requisitioning food and supplies as needed.
  • Attend pre-function meetings to brief on event details and ensure a smooth execution.
  • Comply with Health Department regulations and maintain proper sanitation practices.
  • Provide friendly and courteous customer service at all times, responding to customer inquiries and resolving any issues that may arise.
  • Inventory control, including counting and requisitioning food and supplies, as needed before, during, and after events.
  • Break down tables and banquet equipment after each event, and clean and return catering equipment and serving pieces to proper storage areas.
  • Adhere to strict grooming standards and policies of the company, maintaining a professional appearance at all times.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum of two years of client-facing work experience in a service environment.
  • Knowledge of catering services and terminology.
  • Ability to follow directions and effectively perform work.
  • Pleasant personality and neat appearance.
  • Display flexibility and adaptation towards an ever-changing work environment.
  • Motivated, proactive, and hands-on engaged.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and listening skills.
  • Ability to speak and understand English well enough to converse with customers, supervisors, and employees.
  • Experience in Excel, Word, Outlook, and Visio preferred.
Working Environment

The Catering Captain will work in a fast-paced environment, with moderate to extreme exposure to noise during events. The position may require working inside and/or outside of the building, with exposure to extreme heat or weather conditions.
