Under the general direction of the Personnel Program Manager II, with guidance from the Chief of the Personnel Management Division (PMD), this position serves in a management capacity on the Personnel Advisory and Consultation Team, providing direct, hands-on support on matters related to classification and compensation analysis and review, implementation of new or existing personnel management programs and initiatives, recruitment and appointments, restricted delegation, personnel transactions, and performance management. Additionally, this position provides temporary “surge” assistance during human resources crises statewide, and recommends policy and program changes to CalHR leadership and customers as it relates to departments that have either lost delegated authority for critical human resources functions, or that are facing critical shortages in human resources that may lead to mission failures. The incumbent is responsible for sensitive and confidential employee matters, and this position requires the use of tact and sound judgment that recognizes the best interests of the state and the Department of Human Resources.

**This position is eligible for a pay differential that is 5% of the monthly base pay rate.**
