The Clinical Coordinator will be responsible for overseeing, coordinating, and managing the clinical practice and case management of a specific service/programmatic area (see list above). To that end the clinical coordinator may act as a liaison between the agency and external entities involved the specific service area. The clinical coordinator will oversee the performance of direct care clinical staff, counseling staff and/or casework staff in that specialty area. The Clinical Coordinator will be responsible for understanding the clinical specialty area and will ensure that services are delivered in compliance with best practice standards, contracting and regulatory entities performance specifications, agency policies, procedures and regulations. If appropriate, the clinical coordinator will ensure that his/her supervisees provide high-quality clinical care in keeping with best practices and that those supervisees attend to risk issues, documentation of care, timeliness of documentation, professionalism, productivity, and administrative issues related to providing clinical care. The Clinical Coordinator will also provide direct services to clients at an established productivity proportionate to other responsibilities.

Responsibilities:

? Oversee, coordinate, and manage the clinical practice and case management of a specific service area (see service area above).
? Compose oneself with professionalism, ethical practice, and compassionate regard for consumers/clients. To this end, the clinical supervisor should demonstrate competency, reliability, honesty, integrity, respectfulness, continued learning,
positivity, mutual support, effective collaboration, active listening, and attention to the responsibilities of the job. The clinical coordinator should dress neatly, professionally, and appropriately to the situation. The clinical coordinator should communicate orally with etiquette, honesty, respectfulness and composure; written communication should demonstrate excellence and be in keeping with the policies and procedures of the agency.
? The Clinical Coordinator will provide direct clinical care to youth as a part of the youths residential placement. The services may include but are not limited to: assessment and treatment planning, individual therapy, family therapy, group therapy, clinical consultation, clinical case management, discharge planning and/or aftercare/follow up. A caseload will be established for each Clinical Coordinator based on the number of supervisees assigned to the Clinical Coordinator and other established additional tasks. Achieving the clinical expectations of this caseload may involve working evening hours.
? In situations where census is low in a program, the Clinical Coordinator will be expected to contribute in other ways to the programmatic functions (for example, providing trainings and support to direct care staff, providing additional clinical groups to program residents, reviewing records to ensure best practice in documentation, etc.).
? The Clinical Coordinator may also provide clinical supervision to clinical and/or paraprofessional staff; this role involves teaching, supervising, coaching, supporting, mentoring, modeling, evaluating, monitoring, motivating and inspiring supervisees such that the highest clinical care is provided to clients and their families. The practice of providing the supervision involves meeting directly with supervisees, typically weekly, as well as being available for consultation and support as needed, which may be after-hours, as well as providing consultation at times to other clinical/paraprofessional staff who do not report directly to the Clinical Coordinator. The Clinical Coordinator may be in the role of providing hours of supervision that is credited toward the supervisees required hours for licensure. The Clinical Coordinator is responsible, with oversight and support from his/her supervisor, for any mid-year performance review, annual performance appraisal and for addressing and monitoring any areas of performance improvement and/or progressive discipline which may arise. Work to ensure that supervisees meet productivity/caseload expectations, that schedules of supervisees are filled and that waitlist times for services are minimized by attending to supervisees schedules and ensuring that clinical cases are progressing and being closed when they no longer meet medical necessity.
? The clinical coordinator may also serve as an adjunct member of the sites leadership team and will provide support to program management in the development, implementation, and maintenance of program expectations, practices, and business goals. The practice of clinical supervision and coordination of a clinical specialty area requires the coordinator to be flexible and responsive to the needs of the clients, the program, community stakeholders, and program leadership. As such, the Clinical Coordinator recognizes that in their role, there is a shared responsibility for direct client care, case management, program management, and agency policies and procedures. The Clinical Coordinator thus recognizes the importance of and need to promptly communicate and collaborate with his/her supervisor/director (or their designee) regarding issues of risk to clients and to staff, any issues pertaining to ethics and/or conflict of interest as well as any issues that could directly impact the collaborative relationship with community partners/stakeholders.
? Ensure that any issues or concerns related to risk (client risk, staff risk, facility risk, and/or programmatic risk) or ethical misconduct are immediately brought to the Director or Assistant Director of Behavioral Health Services, or the AVP or VP of Behavioral Health.
? Through the role of Clinical Coordinator, model a supervision philosophy and clinical practice that:
o Promotes client-centered care that adheres to best practice standards and recognizes client voice and client choice,
o Recognizes the multiple perspectives of clients and their caregiving system
o Is cognizant of and actively developing clinical skills that support inclusion, equity and diversity of people that might otherwise be marginalized or oppressed.
o Utilizes active and reflective listening as well as the exchange of supportive and effective feedback related to issues of clinical care and practice as well as general performance
o Orients oneself in a strengths-based approach,
o Develops an understanding of the impact of trauma and substance abuse
o Provides positive regard, empathy, curiosity, respect, and professionalism,
o Establishes and maintain clear expectations and strong professional boundaries,
o Attunes to the client and his/her family and natural support system,
o Ensures that clinical care meets medical necessity, and
o Remains cognizant of and proactive about any issues of safety / risk.
? Responsible for developing specialty service area competency and/or for coordinating the daily operations of a specialty program, including clinical services and program operations. May also provide and/or coordinate services for programs with multiple funding sources and/or multiple program sites.
? As required by the program, participates in the provision of 24-hour / after-hour coverage for clients, including on-call answering services (weeknights, weekends, and/or holidays) on a rotating basis.
? Maintain agency standards, policies, and procedures in order to comply with all funding, licensure, and regulatory requirements of program, which also involves insuring that supervisees are trained, supported, and able to maintain funding, licensure, and regulatory requirements of program. Assists with programmatic role of ensuring quality, timely documentation and regular review of clinical charts.

Attend and participate in a variety of meetings, committees, trainings, staff meetings, clinic team meetings, etc. related to Behavioral Health Services or Residential Services. The Clinical Coordinator may serve on inter-agency or external committees, as needed.
? Represent the agency at community events, as appropriate.
? Work in an integrative and supportive fashion with other departments within the agency, and provides assistance as needed.
? May provide occasional trainings inside or outside the agency as needed, within the scope of expertise.
? Completes other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

? Demonstrated strong knowledge of child/youth and family clinical care and support, as well as mental health, educational, child development, child welfare, community outreach, and juvenile justice systems.
? Proof of a valid drivers license, acceptable driving record, and reliable personal transportation to fulfill essential job functions is required. Privately owned vehicle has current and valid state registration and safety inspection sticker, is safe, and is ensured according to the minimum state requirements (pertaining to bodily injury and liability). As per Massachusetts state law, driving under the influence of any substance is against the law, prohibited, and may be grounds for immediate termination.
? Demonstrated knowledge and competency with direct psychotherapeutic clinical care, including risk assessment, safety planning, general comprehensive assessment, treatment planning, service delivery, and discharge/after-care planning. In the CSA, strong knowledge of the Principles of Wrap-Around Care and direct services. Ability to ensure that clinical care meets medical necessity and that service delivery meets all compliance standards.
? Knowledgeable of program specifications (BSAS, CBHI, DCF, DPH, DYS, and EEC), regulatory requirements, licensing requirements, credentialing requirements, HIPAA, and other laws and regulations related to clinical care.

Education, Clinical Licensure, and/or Experience
? Masters or Doctoral Degree in Psychology, Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Mental Health Counseling, or related field required.
? Independent clinical license required (unless otherwise indicated by regulatory entity).

? Minimum of two years clinical experience (unless otherwise indicated by regulatory entity) in behavioral health setting, preferably working with child, adolescent, and family services.
? Familiarity with Electronic Health/Billing Record required.
? Bilingual (Spanish/English) capabilities preferred.

Physical:

Must be able to perform sedentary aspects of position, including, but not limited to desk and electronic work, typing, driving to meetings and trainings, as well as driving/transporting clients as necessary.
