What you’ll be doing:

  • Aggressive pursuit of targeted Fortune 1000 and Global 500 companies within assigned geographic region. 90% of time will be spent on this.
  • Establish and maintain direct contact with our strategic account prospects.
  • Develop and maintain a strategic account target list for Staples Promotional Products.
  • When appropriate, effectively collaborate with Staples Advantage, Staples Retail, Staples Promotional Products Global offices and HQ departments to respond to Requests for Proposals (RFP), Request for Quotation (RFQ), as well as other unsolicited proposal information in order to secure contractual relationships in the promotional products category as part of a broader customer relationship with Staples. This includes pricing, administration, operations, IS, sales, etc. as well as developing a pricing strategy that ensures appropriate gross margin levels for all affected divisions are achieved.
  • Develop and deliver presentations to prospective accounts.
  • Execution of business development sales strategies to move targeted prospects to active opportunities, while positioning Staples Promotional Products as the preferred solution for decision makers and influencers within Marketing, Brand, and Procurement departments of target companies.
  • Prepare for consultative engagement with prospects through diligent and thorough research, demonstrating knowledge of prospective customers’ industries and specific business issues and challenges facing them.

 

What you bring to the table:

  • Capable of developing a clear, strategic sales vision with the ability to communicate that vision.
  • Successful track record of business development with Fortune 500 companies.
  • Proven ability to develop various markets, sales, and management strategies along with the ability to set targets and design growth plans.
  • Consultative/Strategic selling skills with the ability to interface with customers at the most senior levels.
  • Ability to effectively transition business to Account Managers.
  • Ability to understand and articulate the value propositions of other LOBs to a customer.
  • Strong analytical skills, motivation, along with the ability to multi-task.
  • Strong verbal, written and presentation skills.
  • Interpersonal and customer relations skills.
  • Time management and organization skills.
  • Strong business, financial, operations and technology acumen.
  • Demonstrate strong team building attributes with the ability to lead, motivate and manage for results.
  • Need to function independently with minimal supervision.
  • Computer literacy including competency related to MS Windows-based applications.
  • Proficiency in Staples Promotional Products solutions.

 

What’s needed- Basic Qualifications:

  • 8+ years of experience with increasing levels of responsibility that will have led to a sales management position in a similar size or larger organization.

 

What’s needed- Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Marketing or related discipline
  • Bilingual in English and French (oral and written) an asset, though not required.
