Senior Accountant- Revenue and Production

Summary:

The ideal candidate will excel in managing revenue accounting processes, ensuring accurate financial reporting, and driving continuous improvement in accounting procedures. This individual will possess over a decade of accounting expertise, particularly in the oil and gas industry. 

Responsibilities:

  • Revenue Accounting Management: Oversee and manage revenue-related processes, including cash payments, reconciliations, and sales recording for operated and non-operated wells. Ensure timely and accurate recording of all financial transactions.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with the Land, Marketing, and AP departments to ensure accurate revenue booking, contract pricing, and vendor payments. Address and resolve billing disputes, discrepancies, and customer inquiries.
  • Process Improvement: Implement and refine accounting processes to decrease close times, enhance accuracy, and improve efficiency. Collaborate with IT and other departments to develop and deploy new software tools and dashboards.
  • Audit and Compliance: Provide necessary documentation and explanations to assist in internal and external audits and ensure compliance with SOX, ONRR, BLM, and other regulatory bodies.
  • Financial Reporting: Prepare and review monthly financial statements, including revenue accruals, general ledger account reconciliations, and variance explanations. 
  • Regulatory Reporting: Prepare and submit required regulatory reports, including severance tax calculations, state filings, and ONRR reports. Ensure all reports are accurate and submitted on time.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. CPA or other relevant certifications preferred.
  • 10+ years of progressive accounting experience, focusing on revenue, JIB, and production accounting within the oil and gas industry.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel (e.g., pivot tables, V-lookups) and Power BI for data analysis.
  • Strong proficiency in accounting software such as SAP, Enertia, Quorum, EnergyLink, and DocVue.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to explain complex accounting concepts to non-accounting professionals.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects, meet tight deadlines, and solve complex accounting problems.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills, with experience leading cross-functional teams.
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements and experience preparing regulatory reports for the oil and gas industry.
