We have an exciting opportunity to develop and grow a new business function in support of the growing US HVDC market.
 
With the increase in demand for HVDC technology moving forward, we have decided to establish a dedicated team within the US to support the delivery of future projects including a full transient network analysis laboratory for functional and dynamic performance testing.
 
As a HVDC Controls Engineer you will work within a team of HVDC project management and engineering specialists to design and deliver full HVDC control and protection solutions making use of a new transient network analysis laboratory located in Raleigh.

You will report to the Engineering Manager – HVDC C&P and will be required to provide engineering work packages in line with project and business objectives.

How You’ll Make An Impact:
  • Design of open and closed loop control systems for high voltage direct current systems (HVDC).
  • Preparation of design specifications, documentation, and effort estimations.
  • Clarification of technical requirements within the project teams as well as with customers and suppliers.
  • Implementation of control software in MATLAB/SIMULINK as well as verification using simulation tools and real-time test environments.
  • Remote support of the commissioning team during the commissioning phase.
  • Remote support of the service team during the warranty phase.

What You Bring:
  • Bachelors or Master's degree in electrical engineering or a comparable field of study.
  • 5+ years of professional experience in energy and control technology.
  • Good knowledge in converter- and high voltage technology, as well as in open and closed loop controls.
  • Good MATLAB/SIMULINK knowledge including model-based implementation and verification.
  • Experience in the configuration of automation systems, preferably SIMATIC TDC / S7.
  • Very good English language skills, German language skills are an advantage.
