Overview of Your Role

As a Control Systems HMI Engineer at Siemens Energy, you will collaborate with a dedicated team of HVDC project management and engineering experts to develop and implement comprehensive HVDC control and protection systems, utilizing advanced transient network analysis capabilities.

Your Contributions

  • Lead the engineering efforts within the HVDC Control & Protection division, focusing on the SCADA system.
  • Develop and update technical specifications and documentation.
  • Engage in discussions with internal stakeholders, suppliers, and clients regarding system concepts, features, functionalities, and visual representations.
  • Design and maintain the HMI software project and signal database, encompassing operator functionalities, subsystem representations, and operational modes/parameters.
  • Engineer the monitoring systems effectively.
  • Oversee system integration and commissioning of the HMI and SCADA Communication Gateway in testing environments.
  • Conduct and assist in testing activities with suppliers and clients.
  • Provide expert technical support during on-site commissioning processes.

Qualifications You Bring

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Automation Engineering or a related discipline.
  • A minimum of 8 years of experience in engineering HMI systems (Copa Data Zenon) and remote control interfaces, including protocol converters and data concentrators.
  • Proven experience in project execution, client engagement, and collaboration within complex teams.
  • Familiarity with communication protocols (IEC61850) and other relevant protocols (IEC101, IEC104, OPC, DNP...) along with their communication frameworks.
  • Proficient in data processing methodologies.
  • Basic programming knowledge (C, C++, Java, C#), preferably with an object-oriented approach.
  • Proficient in English communication.
  • Willingness to travel for business purposes, including international assignments.
  • Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer-sponsored work authorization.
