Job Summary: The Safety Specialist coordinates and supports safety programs, policies, and procedures to comply with OSHA and other safety requirements. This role involves evaluating procedures, facilities, and equipment through inspections, ensuring compliance with safety regulations, educating employees on safety procedures, and reporting on safety and accident events. The Safety Specialist will primarily work in a welding and fabrication shop setting, addressing unique safety challenges inherent to these environments.

 

Essential Responsibilities/Duties:

  • Coordinate safety compliance programs.
  • Conduct safety inspections for regulatory compliance.
  • Implement and support safety policies and programs.
  • Provide safety training to personnel.
  • Analyze and investigate safety incidents, ensuring corrective actions.
  • Investigate employee complaints about hazardous conditions.
  • Evaluate jobs, processes, or products for hazards and recommend controls.
  • Maintain safety records.
  • Waste Tracking and Environmental Reporting.
  • OSHA 300 and EMR Reporting.
  • Attend AGC monthly safety meetings.
  • Assist with Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) training.
  • Provide technical guidance on safety issues.
  • Perform equipment inspections.
  • Manage Safety Data Sheet (SDS) logs.
  • Track and manage personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

 

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 1 year of safety-related experience in construction, manufacturing, or related industry.
  • Knowledge of state and federal safety regulations.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Proof of U.S. citizenship due to government contract requirements.
  • Current CPR/First Aid certification or ability to obtain it.
  • Must pass background checks and a drug screen.

 

Other Qualifications:

  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP) Certification is a plus.
