Position Overview

Are you passionate about providing exceptional service and all things benefits? Join us as a Senior Benefits Specialist, where you’ll lead the administration and management of our employee benefits and leave programs. Your expertise will cover a wide range of benefits, including health, medical, dental, life, voluntary plans, EAP, HSA/HRA/FSA, COBRA, commuter benefits, and retirement plans. You’ll also oversee leave administration and our workers’ compensation program, ensuring employees are well-supported and informed. This position is onsite. After 90 days, this position is eligible for one remote workday per week.


What You’ll Do

Benefits Administration:

  • Manage and maintain comprehensive benefits programs, from health and dental coverage to retirement plans.
  • Plan and execute wellness and health education initiatives.
  • Cultivate and manage vendor relationships, including contract renewals and issue resolution.
  • Lead three annual open enrollment processes, ensuring data accuracy and effective communication.

Employee Support and Education:

  • Serve as the primary contact for benefits-related inquiries and issues.
  • Conduct orientations for new hires and ongoing education for current employees.
  • Assist employees with benefits enrollment changes and qualifying events.
  • Support employees with leave-related questions and ensure smooth coordination with payroll.
  • Develop and distribute communication materials to keep employees informed about benefits programs and changes.

Compliance and Reporting:

  • Ensure compliance with all relevant federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Prepare and file necessary compliance documents and reports.
  • Conduct regular audits to ensure program accuracy and compliance.

Strategic Planning and Analysis:

  • Analyze benefits programs and utilization data to identify trends and recommend changes.
  • Collaborate with HR leadership to develop strategic benefits initiatives.
  • Monitor and manage the benefits budget, identifying cost-saving opportunities.
  • Develop and implement health and wellness programs.

Leave Management and Administration:

  • Administer leave programs, ensuring compliance with all regulations.
  • Provide guidance and support to employees and managers on leave policies.
  • Stay updated on legislative changes related to leave laws.

Billing Reconciliation:

  • Perform regular reconciliation of benefits billing, resolving discrepancies promptly.
  • Coordinate with finance and vendors to address billing issues.
  • Review and reconcile monthly premium billings.

Data and Records Management:

  • Ensure the accuracy and security of benefits data for reporting and analysis.
  • Maintain and retain records according to policies.
Requirements:

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Working knowledge of benefits compliance and federal and state leave requirements.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to analyze complex benefits issues.
  • Excellent customer service abilities, with a focus on supporting and educating employees.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Advanced Excel skills for bill reconciliation, data analysis, and reporting.
  • Positive attitude with a proactive and team-oriented approach.
  • Proficiency with HRIS and benefits administration systems.
  • Project management skills and the ability to lead benefits-related initiatives.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • 5+ years of experience in benefits administration.
  • 2+ years of experience in leave administration.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field, preferred but not required.
  • Experience working in healthcare or with self-funded/level funded plans is a bonus.
