JOB DESCRIPTION


Title: Facilities and Shop Supervisor

Department: Operations

Reports To: Operations Coordinator

Location: Santa Rosa, CA

FLSA Status: Full-Time, Non-Exempt from Wage and Hour Laws

Directly Supervises: Up to 1 corpsmember shop technician



Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:


The Facilities and Shop Supervisor is responsible for all aspects of supervision of facilities and shop management. The function of the CCNB shop is to procure, maintain and repair all hand and power tools used by the Natural Resources Department and provide structured, certified trainings for a select group of qualified corpsmembers. Facilities management will include oversight of safety, inspection, and repairs for the facilities. Specific responsibilities of the Facilities and Shop Supervisor include:


  • Routine maintenance and management of facilities
  • Coordination of facilities inspections and outside service providers for ongoing maintenance and projects
  • Coordinate repairs and preform light maintenance to vehicles.
  • Perform routine maintenance and repair of all CCNB hand and power tools
  • General organization of the tool storage sheds and parking areas
  • Inventory and tracking of tool maintenance records
  • Procurement of shop supplies & and new tools
  • Corpsmember training and certification
  • Provide tool orientation for new corpsmembers
  • Provide coverage for Natural Resources Crew Supervisors
  • Provide supervision of corpsmembers on construction and natural resource projects
  • Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Passion for helping young adults and the environment
  • Experience in supervising and training youth
  • Ability to repair small engines
  • Knowledge of the use and safety of hand and power tools
  • Highly organized and independent
  • Ability to provide short term coverage as a Natural Resources Crew Supervisor
  • Ability to do strenuous work in adverse weather conditions
  • Desire to work in a fast-paced and diverse environment
  • Demonstrated ability to resolve conflict and mediate disputes in a positive fashion
  • Standard First Aid and CPR certification - current or acquire in first 3 months
  • Clean DMV record, with ability to pass CCNB's driving exam

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:

  • Preferred two years of supervisory experience. Experience in youth development, project management and the implementation of natural resource projects
  • Preferred experience supervising youth from a wide variety of social, economic and educational backgrounds to work together as a team
  • Associate's degree or vocational training in natural resource management, mechanics, construction, or related field
  • Experience serving and volunteering in the community. Must possess a strong service ethic and be able to instill this ethic into team members
  • Conversational Spanish language skills is a plus, but not required

The Facilities and Shop Supervisor works outdoors around equipment and machinery, walking on uneven ground and steep hillsides, with exposure to excessive noise, fumes and extremes in temperature. They may be expected to lift and move objects weighing up to 75 lbs, and carry objects at least ½ mile. This position frequently use special visual and auditory protective equipment. While performing the duties of this position, the Facilities and Shop Supervisor is required to walk and stand; sit and bend; squat and climb; kneel and twist; to talk or hear. This position uses hands to operate objects, tools, or controls; and reaches with hands and arms. This position uses hands to perform simple and power grasping, and fine manipulation; to push and pull.


BENEFITS

The Facilities and Shop Supervisor position is an hourly, non-exempt position which is eligible for a full benefits package (Medical, Dental, Vision, Chiropractic, 403(B) retirement, and generous PTO). Starting pay is $27.00-$30.00 per hour depending on experience.
