Job DescriptionJob DescriptionWe are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Accounting Specialist to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting, with specific experience in managing financial transactions for multiple industries, preferably in multi-family, restaurants, and retail. Additionally, proficiency in sales tax management is crucial for this role. The Accounting Specialist will be responsible for various accounting tasks, including but not limited to, financial record-keeping, reconciliations, and ensuring compliance with relevant accounting regulations. This position will also include some accounting department responsibilities related to recurring monthly processes, banking, and administrative assistance. The candidate must possess the ability to work independently and as part of a team to meet to meet deadlines. The ideal candidate will be a self-motivated individual who welcomes challenges with strong problem-solving ability and attention to detail.  

Recurring functions: 
  • Responsible for the day-to-day maintenance of QuickBooks as well as month-end close reporting, including but not limited to budget reports and bank reconciliations. 
  • Provide analysis and perform general ledger duties
  • Keeping track of payments and expenditures, including payroll, purchase orders, invoices, and statements. 
  • Processing check requests and expense reports on a regular basis. 
  • Accurately reviewing, coding, and processing vendor invoices. 
  • Performing data entry associated with accounts payable matters. 
  • Prepare form 1099s 
  • Prepare and submit monthly sales tax returns 
  • Analyze financial data to identify trends, discrepancies, and opportunities for improvement
  • Prepare financial statements and reports, providing insight and recommendations based on analysis
  • Flexibility to support management in various company-wide initiatives. 
Pre-Qualifications 
  • Minimum of 4 years of related experience in a bookkeeping or similar environment 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook 
  • QuickBooks experience required. 
  • Strong organizational and communication skills 
  • Independent, able to work effectively and efficiently under minimal supervision. 
  • Must be a team player who easily adapts to change. 
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Sales tax experience preferred.
