Responsibilities:

Team Leadership and Communication:

  • Lead and supervise a team of maintenance technicians and janitorial staff.
  • Provide guidance, support, and training to the maintenance staff.
  • Foster a collaborative and results-oriented team culture to ensure good communication of maintenance issues.
  • Communicates directly with supervision and planning department to coordinate maintenance and repair work in production areas.
  • Consults with production planning to schedule overtime to meet production requirements.

Equipment Maintenance:

  • Monitors and maintains preventive maintenance program for all machinery and equipment. Must achieve at least a 95% completion rate.
  • Conduct regular inspections to identify potential issues and address them proactively to minimize unplanned downtime, anticipate and solve problems in a timely manner and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Coordinate with production and other departments to schedule maintenance activities to minimize downtime.

Troubleshooting and Repairs:

  • Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns and malfunctions.
  • Diagnose issues, perform repairs, and ensure rapid return to operational status.
  • Collaborate with external vendors for specialized repairs and technical support when needed.
  • Submits and reviews request for quotation for services and labor for outside contractors and makes recommendations.
  • Coordinates scheduling and activities of outside contractors.
  • Installs, maintains, inspects, troubleshoots, and repairs a variety of production and factory auxiliary equipment including hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical process control equipment.

Documentation and Reporting:

  • Maintain accurate records of all maintenance activities, including repairs, inspections, and preventive maintenance.
  • Maintains and updates operating and training manuals for the maintenance department.
  • Monitors the inventory and use of spare parts, maintenance supplies, and equipment and initiates reordering when necessary.
  • Maintains the maintenance database for tracking work orders, spare parts, and maintenance history of plant equipment.
  • Prepares reports, analyzes data, and makes recommendations for improving plant operations and solving maintenance-related problems.
  • Tracks, analyzes and improves maintenance department KOI’s parameters such as production halts, PM’s completions, maintenance cost.

Safety and Compliance:

  • Enforce safety protocols and ensure that all maintenance activities comply with relevant regulations and standards.
  • Conduct regular safety training sessions for the maintenance team.
  • Collaborate with the Health and Safety Officer to address any safety concerns promptly.
  • Directs, maintains, and enforces the safety program for the maintenance department; reviews safety records to uphold standards of maximum safety for all maintenance technicians.
  • Takes immediate action to correct unsafe conditions. Cite employees for safety violations.
  • Achieves departmental safety goals.
  • Ensures hand tools, power tools, and test instruments are used safely.
  • Follows all lock out/tag out procedures and lock storage policies.
  • Responds to notifications from security and fire alarms.
  • Coordinates activities due to inclement weather, power outages, etc.; ensures plant is operational for employees to report to work. Communicates with management.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Participates in all training as required.
  • Maintains a neat and orderly work area.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Participates in the operations L10 meeting.
  • Attains and maintains 7S system departmental goals.
  • Responsible for maintaining the building and grounds.
  • Assists with the rebuilding and modification of production equipment.
  • Assist with robotics used in the manufacturing process.
Requirements:

  1. High school diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or a related field preferred.
  2. Minimum of 5 years maintenance experience in a manufacturing or closely related environment.
  3. Proven experience in a supervisory or leadership role.
  4. Must possess the ability to troubleshoot hydraulic and pneumatic controls circuits.
  5. Must be able to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, designs, schematics, sketches, and written instructions.
  6. Must be able to troubleshoot industrial drives and controls.
  7. Must be able to troubleshoot a wide range of PLC’s (Programmable Logic Controls)
  8. Ability to obtain equipment certification
  9. Effectively work with a group of people with diverse abilities and backgrounds
  10. Ability to work efficiently in a fast paced, team-oriented environment
  11. Should have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  12. The ability to effectively manage time and lead a team of maintenance technicians.
  13. Good organizational and administrative skills.
  14. Must possess computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite.
  15. Fully bilingual English and Spanish preferred
  16. Relevant certifications in maintenance or a related field would be an asset.
