Position Summary:
The Maintenance Team Supervisor will oversee a group of technicians, ensuring the prompt repair of machinery to minimize downtime and enhance productivity. This role requires strong communication skills to advocate for Safety, Quality, Cost, and Delivery objectives as outlined by upper management.
Key Responsibilities:
- Monitor the status of equipment failures within one hour of downtime.
- Maintain an updated whiteboard reflecting the downtime status of the department and initiate timelines; Provide updates via email and communication platforms until repairs are completed.
- Conduct daily assessments of equipment failures in the maintenance management system and guide team members accordingly.
- Ensure timely communication with Production Engineers when their expertise is required.
- Complete assigned Maintenance Service Requests (MSRs) related to equipment failures, reviewing timelines and documenting all corrective actions.
- Schedule team members for parts rebuilding tasks following breakdowns; Document breakdown incidents and assign team members to specific tasks.
- Prioritize equipment failures based on their impact on production, focusing on critical machines.
- Review team member assignments for breakdowns, including submitting parts requests for items that are out of stock.
- For the PM shift, verify that all preventative maintenance parts are received, create priority schedules for overdue maintenance, and prepare weekend/shutdown schedules for maintenance activities.
- Continuous Improvement - Input and prioritize all improvement suggestions and follow-ups; Update schedules for required activities based on urgency and submit parts requests for unavailable items.
- Training - Ensure all team members participate in scheduled training sessions, providing the necessary training materials; Responsible for conducting skill evaluations and maintaining up-to-date training documentation.
- Budget Management - Review and approve timecards; Submit requests for obsolete parts and items with zero inventory.
- Reporting - Responsible for generating and reviewing assigned MSR Weekly I-Mark Audits, safety audits, and maintenance awareness reports as needed; Collect feedback from team members, fill out relevant documentation, and ensure compliance with safety standards.
- Meetings - Facilitate pre-shift meetings, daily briefings, and cross-functional reviews in the absence of the group leader.
Accountabilities:
- Track and analyze activities to ensure departmental Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) are achieved.
- Promote adherence to all departmental safety policies.
- Ensure that all necessary resources are available for maintenance team members.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Associate's degree in a relevant field and over five years of experience in manufacturing maintenance within a fast-paced industrial setting.
- Experience in a high-demand, heavy industrial manufacturing environment.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics.
- Proven ability to analyze equipment failures and implement effective corrective measures.
- Strong communication skills to influence personnel at all levels and drive change.
- Demonstrated leadership skills to promote safety initiatives.
- Active listening skills to fully understand and engage with team members.
- Effective verbal communication skills to convey information clearly.
- Coordination skills to manage multiple tasks and adjust actions based on team dynamics.
