Information Resources Administrator

The Library is hiring a full-time Information Resources Administrator. This is a leadership position to coordinate the collection management department and information services department to meet the needs and interests of the public. This position is responsible for the oversight and development of the library’s collection according to State Standards and system goals.
Educational Requirements/Qualifications:
Education Requirements: Master of Library and Information Sciences degree or enrolled in an American Library Association accredited MLS degree preferred. Bachelor’s degree required.
Experience Required: Five years’ experience in dealing with the public in a library setting. Two years’ supervisory experience, proficient with technology and experience with information research and cataloging required. Two years active experience using Microsoft Office Suite or equivalent and searching the Internet in a Windows environment. Excellent customer service and communication skills, ability to lift 25 lbs. unassisted.
Essential Functions:
- Oversees collection management, information services, Inter-library Loan and cataloging.
- Responsible for the oversight and development of the library’s collection according to State Standards and system goals.
- Manages the Collection Management staff and information services staff.
- Holds regular staff meetings.
- Maintains current knowledge of all modules of ILS or utilities used by staff in the collection management department.
- Develops and maintains contacts with vendors and publishers, striving to achieve rapid and cost-effective delivery of new library material and databases.
- Develops and oversees department and collection budgets.
- Oversees the coordination of acquisitions expenditures with the finance department.
- Trains library staff in Collection Management and Works with District partners related to ILL questions and needs.
- Stays up to date with library trends and best practices.
- Communicates system-wide goals, priorities and changes in policies and procedures to staff.
- Works with CR to develop a marketing strategy for Information services and library materials.
- Attend staff meetings and continuing education workshops. Participates in system committees.
- Promotes excellent customer service.
