Key Qualifications

  • Maintain the compliance of the Billing Department with the organization’s center practices and local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Effective use of our Electronic Health Records system and all applicable billing systems.
  • Preparing and sending electronic third-party billing and perform posting charges and completion of claims to payers in a timely manner.
  • Responsible for correcting, completing, and processing claims for all payers including county and contract billing.
  • Maintain payment records of all patients, and effective communication when there are issues.
  • Make payment arrangements and collect on past due accounts, based on policies of organization.
  • Demonstrate respect and regard for the dignity of all patients, families, visitors, and fellow employees to insure a professional, responsible, and courteous environment.
  • Anticipate patients' needs and deliver services and respond to patients in a timely, accurate, and friendly manner. Advocate for care that best serves the patient.
  • Answer/respond to correspondence and calls related to patient accounts. Is available to answer billing related inquiries by patients, staff, and third-party insurances during standard business hours of 9-5pm

Description


The candidate should have strong interpersonal skills and the ability to navigate a highly optimized and specialized environment where priorities may shift daily while working autonomously, taking initiative, and complete tasks you are responsible for. Responsible for performing billing and collections duties within established timelines which includes performing daily billing department functions; claim creation and submission; payment posting; accurate data collection and entry; intra-clinic communication; and customer service. Billing Specialists are expected to demonstrate exceptional patient relations, organizational, and time management skills.


Education & Experience

  • High school diploma or GED
  • 1-year of experience handling money/cashiering/bookkeeping
  • Experience and ability to perform, precise, detailed work and accept regular feedback.
  • Ability to work in fast paced environment.
  • Customer service experience and skills
  • Experience with Medi-Cal, Medicare, private insurance, and State & County programs preferred.
  • Experience working within the Santa Cruz County community with a knowledge of local community needs (preferred)
  • 1-year of experience with medical data entry *Minimum 2-year combined education and/or job experience to be considered for Level II or SR position.

Pay & Benefits


At Janus, base salary is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $25.00 and $30.00 per hour and your base pay will be considered on your job-related skills, training, qualifications, experience, and relevant education.
