POSITION SUMMARY

The E.H.R. Billing Specialist plays a crucial role in maintaining patient confidentiality and safeguarding information security. This position is responsible for reviewing, tracking, and submitting patient service records for evaluation. The specialist will collaborate closely with the HSS Program Manager to ensure the accuracy of billing processes.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Gather and verify comprehensive documentation from program offices and the ServicePoint database for billing purposes.
  • Engage with the accounting department to confirm the accuracy of billed amounts.
  • Ensure timely completion and accurate data entry of treatment notes to facilitate correct billing claims.
  • Review essential treatment note details, including units of service and time entries.
  • Conduct daily, weekly, and monthly reviews of billable services and maintain accurate records.
  • Prepare, document, and distribute monthly reports and relevant information as required.
  • Generate treatment services in SAGE and submit them to the Program Manager or designated personnel.
  • Monitor denied claims and manage the resubmission of treatment services.
  • Maintain and organize all billing documentation in compliance with state regulations.
  • Assist in managing confidential files in both physical and electronic formats.
  • Support management in data reconciliation efforts.
  • Provide general office assistance, including answering phones, scheduling assessments, and taking meeting minutes.
  • Perform other duties as necessary to achieve program objectives, subject to change as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to pass a fingerprint clearance and background check, including criminal history, personal references, and employment verification.

EDUCATION:

  • High School diploma or GED equivalent.

EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum of one year of experience in Medi-Cal billing and/or data entry.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Associate Degree.
  • Medical coding certification.
  • Familiarity with SAGE billing/database.
