Billing Specialist

Job Description

PURPOSE OF THE POSITION

The Billing Specialist is responsible for providing billing support to ensure that all data provided is input in an effective and efficient manner to ensure that any discrepancies are addressed and corrected.

SCOPE

Billing Specialist is responsible for providing billing support services and data entry.

RESPONSIBILITIES

1)      Assist the office staff as requested.

2)      Comply with all HIPPA, State, and MCO regulations.

3)      Communicate with Billing and Reconciliation Manager and the Main office to answer questions, disseminate or explain information, and address complaints.

4)      Compile, copy, sort and file records of consumers, employee’s, office activities, and other activities.

5)      Greet, assist and / or direct visitors, and the public.

6)      Operate office equipment, such as photocopiers, scanners, fax machines, voice mail systems, and computer systems.

7)      Maintain office well-ordered and clean.

8)       Travel to Satellite offices to perform similar duties.

9)      Enter data (such as dollar amounts), obtained from different insurance portals, onto a billing sheet. (Availity, UHC Portal, and Presbyterian Portal)

10)  Making sure the billed and paid amounts match as closely as possible and indicate any discrepancy.

11)  Entering authorization information on to the billing sheet.

12)  Keeping track of all authorization end dates.

13)  Ensuring all codes, including but not limited to G9006 and S5110, are billed in a timely manner.

14)  Ensuring that all offices train employees in a timely manner so that the S5110 code can be billed.

15)  Confirming claims on Authenticare, on a weekly basis.

16)  Any Information pertaining to At-Home Personal Care is Property of At-Home Personal Care Services LLC. (No Exceptions) 

17)  Assist with payment reconcile and report payment denials to management.                

18)   Promptly fulfill any set goals and tasks by Upper Management.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITES

The Billing Specialist   must have proficient knowledge in the following areas:

·         Office administration

·         Experience working with Authenticare.

·         Experience working with New Mexico Medicaid

·         Experience working with the following portals:

Availity, UHC Portal, and Presbyterian Portal

·         An understanding of all relevant regulations, policies, and procedures.

 

The Billing Specialist   must demonstrate the following personal Skills:

·         Computer skills including the ability to use EXEL and WORD programs at a highly proficient level
