Our client is a growing start up in the CPG baked goods space. As the Payroll & HRIS Manager, you will be a vital part of people operations, reporting directly to the Chief People Officer. You’ll manage all HRIS functions of their Paylocity HRIS and Payroll system, oversee payroll and data programs, and ensure compliance, efficiency, and accuracy in all processes. Your leadership will drive the enhancement of systems management, partnering with Finance, Accounting, Talent Team, and Plant Operations to provide an excellent user experience.


What you will do:

  • Lead and manage HR processes related to total pay compliance
  • Oversee bi-weekly payroll processing and data reporting, personally process payroll as necessary
  • Collaborate with ERP, Finance, and Business Intelligence teams to enhance system functionality
  • Serve as the technical expert and point of contact for the Talent Team
  • Drive system enhancements and process optimization for improved efficiency
  • Develop and maintain documentation for procedures and process flows
  • Ensure compliance with California law and company policies
  • Manage payroll execution, including benefits processing, tax reporting, and audits
  • Partner with external vendors and consultants to resolve technical issues

What we are looking for:

  • BS/BA in data systems, business, or related field
  • 7+ years of experience in payroll planning and execution in small to mid-sized companies
  • Proven track record in HRIS system assessment and migration
  • Strong technical knowledge of people systems like Paylocity, ADP, Workday, or similar
  • Startup experience is a major plus
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills
  • Advanced knowledge of HR compliance and data protection regulations
  • Bilingual English/Spanish is a major plus
  • Must live in Bay Area and able to work in San Leandro or South San Francisco office
