The incumbent will collect, compile, analyze, and report HR data, metrics, and statistics, and apply this data to process changes and make recommendations related to workforce planning, compensation administration, and legal compliance. This position will assist in the development and administration of policies and procedures, particularly around the College's classification and compensation structure. The HRIS and Compensation Manager will work with various constituents including other HR staff, staff from other departments at the College, vendors, and other community partners. The incumbent in this role will be required to be data-minded with a compassion for people.

As a member of the HR team, this position is essential to employee and community service and experience. The incumbent must feel comfortable working in an often fast-paced organizational framework with shifting and evolving responsibilities. This position collaborates with other HR staff, and a variety of other College offices to meet the department goals, and further the mission of the department and the College. This position participates as a committed member and leader of the Human Resources team in college and division committee work, projects, meetings, events, and overall community development.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Collects and compiles HR metrics and data from a variety of sources including the human resource information system (HRIS) and payroll outputs, management and employee surveys, exit interviews, employment records, government labor statistics, competitors' practices, and other sources.
  • Analyzes data and statistics for trends and patterns with attention to recruitment, hiring practices, motivation, turnover, performance, and compliance with employment laws and regulations.
  • Analyzes data and processes changes related to positions, compensation, and other areas of HR and the employment cycle.
  • Administers the compensation program for employees.
  • Prepares reports of data results, presenting and explaining findings to leadership.
  • Identifies and recommends reasonable short- and long-term goals, milestones, and benchmarks for key performance metrics.
  • Based on metrics and analysis, makes recommendations for policies and activities to improve the organizational culture including suggestions to attract and hire qualified candidates, to motivate and retain employees, to address staffing issues, and to maintain legal compliance.
  • Facilitates implementation of new procedures, programs, training, and other related initiatives.
  • Oversees a regular review and approval process for job descriptions.
  • May conduct or assist with conducting classification and compensation audits to ensure that jobs are properly classified (grade, FSLA status, etc.).
  • Ensures compliance with data privacy regulations and best practices.
  • May guide and/or assist with performance, benefit, and compensation review and evaluation processes.
  • Serve as a member of the Human Resources team, contributing to the advancement of the department's vision and mission.
  • Work professionally in a team-oriented environment assisting and guiding other HR staff as appropriate and as needed.
  • Serve as a backup to other human resources staff as assigned or as necessary to include administration of the HRIS, ATS, payroll, and other HR related tasks.
  • Assist, lead, plan, implement, and administer department initiatives, special projects, and events as assigned.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Customer service skills to include responsiveness, providing a friendly approach, and problem-solving.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of quantitative and qualitative research methods.
  • Thorough understanding of local, state, and federal laws involving areas of employment (e.g. compensation, EEO, ERISA).
  • Proficient with technology (Google suite, Microsoft Office Suite or related software, HRIS, payroll systems, and similar employee management software).
  • Familiarity with HR operations including hiring, payroll and employee benefits.
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Industrial Psychology, or related field required.
  • At least three years of experience in analytics.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Understanding of best practices in higher education human resources services such as academic years, faculty/dean positions, etc.
  • Proficient with or experience with Workday.
  • Experience in related areas such as job classification and compensation, employee benefits, and/or equal opportunity compliance preferred.
  • SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP preferred.
