General Summary: ensures effective communication, administrative efficiency, and operational support within the Office. Reports to the Director of Public Safety and works with co-workers, other law enforcement personnel, services agencies, faculty, students, and staff to maintain continuity in the provision of quality safety services.

Essential Job Functions:

  1. Provides administrative support to Director of Public Safety and the office of Public Safety.
  2. Coordinate with command staff and agency personnel to develop information content and ensure alignment with departmental objectives.
  3. Manages the dissemination, promotion, and marketing of programs, events, and incidents through diverse channels including newsletters, social media platforms, departmental websites, brochures, in-house videos, and community presentations;
  4. Creates, prepares, and proofreads emails, memos, correspondence, reports, and other documents or communications as requested, ensuring accuracy and adherence to established standards.
  5. Assists with coordinating and scheduling office meetings and events, including securing space, equipment, and catering arrangements; provides logistical support during events as needed ensuring a smooth process.
  6. Assists with records management including filing, correspondence, analyzing data, tracking, and archiving files in accordance with office policy.
  7. Maintains department purchasing card (PCard), cash and/or credit card.
  8. Assists with managing and reconciling department expenses and payroll.
  9. Manages all aspects of social media activities and communications, including content creation, scheduling, and engagement.
  10. Responsible for web content creation, monitoring, and digital asset production to ensure accurate and up-to-date information.

REQUIREMENTS

Education: BA/BS in Communications, Public Relations, Business Administration, or related field.

Experience: Minimum of 5 years of communications or administrative experience or combination of.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Ability to communicate effectively
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, social media platforms, and web content management systems.
  • Acute knowledge of budget operations
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently
  • Ability to multitask & prioritize projects
  • Strong organization skills and attention to detail

Other:

  • Occasional travel & Irregular hours

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Intermittent sitting, standing, stooping, crouching, walking, and occasional moving of light objects. Work is performed in an office.
