The Community Engagement Specialist will execute Action for the Climate Emergency's nonpartisan civic engagement initiatives in targeted areas statewide. Responsibilities will encompass:
- Direct voter outreach
- Managing and organizing canvassing efforts
- Utilizing data and digital tools effectively
- Facilitating relational organizing and voter registration
- Engaging in state communications via various channels
- Overseeing a team of canvassers involved in voter outreach and registration activities
This role aims to enhance ACE's influence in promoting a transition to renewable energy, advocating for climate justice, and increasing youth participation in democratic processes. The Specialist will support young individuals in taking action for climate justice and ensuring their voices are heard in the context of voting rights and civic engagement.
The candidate must be prepared for regular travel within the state to participate in fieldwork, actions, and events as necessary. A valid driver's license and access to a vehicle are required.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct field-based civic engagement activities to boost youth participation in democracy, particularly in local communities. This may include:
- Voter registration and education
- Get Out The Vote (GOTV) initiatives
- Relational organizing efforts
- Coordinating outreach with partners
- Managing data and digital resources
- Supporting volunteers in direct voter engagement
This description outlines the essential functions of the role but does not limit the tasks that may be assigned. ACE reserves the right to modify or assign additional duties as needed.
Qualifications- Experience in civic engagement and field organizing, particularly in direct voter outreach
- Background in advocacy, youth engagement, or youth development, ideally with a focus on climate or social justice
- Strong analytical abilities, capable of prioritizing tasks and meeting deadlines with minimal supervision
- Self-motivated with excellent organizational skills and creativity
