From pediatrics to geriatrics, Estes Park Health supplies a full spectrum of care for our friends, neighbors, and visitors in the entire Estes Park Valley and Rocky Mountain National Park. Today, over 18,000 patients—residents and visitors alike—see our health care teams for both outpatient and inpatient services.

SUMMARY:

The Clinical Quality and Safety Specialist (CQSS) - Infection Control will partner with EPH leadership, local units to identify areas of key quality, patient safety and infection control opportunities. Facilitates activities related to patient safety, infection control and quality programming. Measures, analyzes, and facilitates improvement in clinical performance and outcomes. Oversees occurrence reporting, reviews and analyses of safety and quality trends. The CQSS ensures compliance with regulations and requirements from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), Det Norske Veritas (DNV), other accrediting healthcare organizations, and state regulations.

The CQSS is responsible for the implementation and review of the facility's clinical quality, patient safety and infection control program with oversight from the Quality/Patient Safety Senior Director. The infection control RN ensures that existing standards and guidelines of applicable professional organizations and regulatory and governmental agencies are incorporated into the program. The Infection control CQSS reviews relevant public health issues to integrate into practice, serves as a resource person regarding infection prevention issues for all facility personnel, collaborates with other healthcare professionals within and outside of the facility, and implements infection prevention education programs. The infection control CQSS systematically collects and analyzes healthcare-associated infection data using epidemiological principles and statistical methods to identify trends and risk factors. Additionally, it is often the responsibility of the infection control CQSS to perform the reporting of Hospital Acquired Infections (HAI) and quality data for the various facility, county, state, and federal reporting requirements.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  •  Professional Accountability: acquire and maintain knowledge and skills according to professional guidelines to serve as the expert and resource. 
  •  Facilitates Process Improvement and Project Management projects as needed.
  •  Identifies trends and root causes to target interventions to drive outcomes.
  •  Measures, analyzes and facilitates improvement in outcome and process metrics.
  •  Identifies areas of opportunity in partnership with clinical experts.
  •  Partners with committee chairs in establishing trigger lists and meeting structure.
  •  Reviews and triages cases for clinical review.
  •  Promotes use of Just Culture and high reliability principles.
  •  Supports a multidisciplinary approach of clinical review.
  •  Assists in the curation of standard care pathways to reduce care variation.
  •  Responds to patient complaints.
  •  Reporting of required infection control data to NHSN.
  •  Presenting/providing the infection prevention annual report to the IPC, Chief Executive Officer, and Board of Trustees (as applicable to the institution) in collaboration with   the Quality/Patient Safety Senior Director; this report is to include results of infection prevention program goal achievements and matters of concern.
  •  Be a quality, safety and infection control advocate, shares knowledge and skills through mentoring, collaboration, leadership, and educating other members of the team.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:  

  •  3 years of clinical or related experience preferred.
  •  Bachelor's degree in nursing; Master's degree preferred.
  •  Quality and safety experience preferred.
  •  Must possess a valid Colorado RN license or a valid multistate RN license through the Nurse Licensure Compact
  •  Membership in APIC (Associate of Professional in Infection Control and Epidemiology) and SHEA (Society for Healthcare Epidemiology of America)
  •  Certification in Infection Control (CIC) or achieved within one year in the position.

PAY RANGE:

$36.19 - $54.28 per hour
