Position: Logistics Management Specialist

Reports To: Supervisor/Program Manager

Department: DEA Mailroom and Warehouse

FLSA Status: Exempt


Supervises: None


General Function

Coordinates and expedites flow of material, parts, and assemblies within or between departments in accordance with production, shipping schedules, assigned tasks, or program supervisor's priorities. Reviews assigned tasks and schedules and confers with program supervisor, COR, Office Services Staff and/or Springfield Warehouse staff to determine material required or overdue and to locate material, requisitions material and establishes delivery sequences according to job order priorities and anticipated availability of material



Major Activities (Typical Duties/Responsibilities)

1. Arranges for transfer of materials to meet production schedules.

2. Coordinates with requesting offices when required for repair, delivery, or assembly of material to complete assigned tasks.

3. Examines materials delivered to ensure it meets required specifications.

4. Ensures that everything is accounted for and all moving techniques are adhered to.

5. Relocates or transports material from one department to another, using hand or industrial truck.

6. Train all Material Handling Laborers and be held accountable for services at Lincoln Place.

7. Shall assist the Program Supervisor at Lincoln place for all moves, supply deliveries, equipment pick up, furniture and surplus equipment.

8. This position shall monitor and assign all tasks submitted to the contractor tasking email box.

9. Coordinates with all requestors to ensure all requirements are met and completed on time.

10. Shall perform the duties of Program Supervisor, as required.

11. Shall be required to operate Government owned vehicles when required or as a back-up to any vehicle operator position.

12. Provides logistical support for the organization and ensures all related operations are on track. These operations may include coordinating the shipment of goods and keeping track of inventory.

13. When operations are not running as they should the specialist must ensure corrections are made promptly.

14. Determines technical needs and communicates with personnel to ensure on-time execution of tasks.

15. Other duties as assigned.

SKILLS/ABILITIES:

· Be physically able to perform the assigned work which includes lifting boxes weighing up to seventy-five (75) pounds.

· Employee will be required to lift, carry, walk, sit, push, pull.

· Strong management-related skills i.e. communication, decision making, problem-solving, leadership, time management, multi-tasking, critical thinking, organization etc.

· Drug Screen and Background Check: Pass with the ability to maintain throughout employment.

· Requires Secret security clearance

Minimum Experience

· 5+ years of direct experience in logistics management required.

· Minimum of 2 years specialized experience using the Windows XP environment or higher and word processing software such as, MSWord, Excel, etc.

· High school diploma or equivalent.

· Be able to read, write and speak English fluently, and be fully trained in the requirements of this contract.

· Requires Secret security clearance
