Stilwell Hotel, in the heart of Carmel-by-the-Sea, is currently searching for an enthusiastic, well-rounded, hospitality-minded Sales Manager. This role is an active sales role to drive business through our Stilwell Inc., Hotels. Focusing on SMERF travel, group tours, corporate retreats, and other room and event business while building long-term relationships with some corporate travel relevant to each individual property will be the main goal of this position.

The Stilwell properties include two year-round properties with over 70 rooms, and ample common space that can be leveraged together for gatherings, group bookings, and events. Individually, the newly remodeled Stilwell Hotel offers 42 guest rooms plus event space and Food and Beverage offerings that cater to groups and corporate retreats. Tradewinds Carmel includes 28 rooms and a zen garden for more intimate gatherings.

This position will require not only sales ability but also a hospitality-driven approach to welcoming our business and personal event attendees. Additional hotel concierge work may be included for individual travelers as well as front desk shifts when appropriate.

This is a full-time salaried position with significant commission potential. Year 1 earnings will be $70,000 annually (broken out as a base salary of $60,000 plus $10,000 in guaranteed commissions), and beginning in 2025 the position will earn commissions on all direct revenues at 5%, with targeted sales at $200,000 or beyond.

Compensation:

$60,000 yearly base + commission

Responsibilities:

  • Perform targeted outbound solicitation of SMERF group business to strategically grow overall property revenue and profit
  • Focus on business that fills in the shoulder seasons of the properties or creates a healthy mid-season base of business without displacing the opportunity to drive transient room revenue
  • Consistently booking repeat business
  • Aggressively pursuing new accounts/business on a weekly basis
  • Develop long-term business relationships
  • Making on-property and field presentations to prospective clients
  • Establish relationships and network with key 3rd parties to garner a robust volume of qualified lead referrals for group business
Qualifications:

  • Must be eligible to work in the United States of America
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • At least 2 years experience in sales
  • Experience preferably selling Central Coast California
  • Comfortable giving presentations
  • Must be comfortable with consistent prospecting in person, over the phone, and via email
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets
  • Salesforce or other CRM Software
