General:

AKF Group LLC is an award-winning professional services firm providing engineering, commissioning, testing, technology, energy & sustainability, and lightning design services. We are currently seeking a Human Resources Intern, who will handle a variety of HR-related administrative duties. The right candidate will have an interest in the Human Resources field, support our daily HR activities, and assist in coordinating HR policies, processes and relevant documents. Based in AKF’s headquarters office in New York City, with remote-based hours as required, and as approved by the HR Director.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist with day to day operations of AKF Group’s HR Department
  • Provide clerical and administrative support to Human Resources team (e.g. including but not limited to scanning, filing, organizing, etc.)
  • Compile and update employee records (hard and soft copies)
  • Process documentation and prepare reports relating to personnel activities (staffing, recruitment, training, grievances, performance evaluations etc.)
  • Coordinate HR projects (meetings, training, surveys etc.) and take minutes
  • Assist in payroll preparation by providing relevant data (absences, bonus, leaves, etc.)
  • Coordinate communication with candidates and schedule interviews
  • Assist with onboarding process for new hire employees, including processing background checks and maintaining on-boarding checklists
  • Support the creation and maintenance of HR reports

Skills/Qualifications:

  • Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources Management or Human Resources related field
  • Good oral and written communications skills
  • Strong attention to detail, with ability to multi-task
  • Proficient in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

Job Classification and Scheduled work hours:

  • Full Time (40 hours per week) or part time (minimum 24 hours per week) non-exempt employee. Non-Exempt employees are eligible for Overtime Pay.
  • Standard workweek is Monday-Friday
  • Full time hours are 8 working hours/day (40 hours/week) within the firm’s hours of operation of 7:00a.m.-6:00p.m.
  • You may be asked to work added hours during peak periods of HR activity
