Job Description:

The Director of Research and Development (R&D) at Augmentjobs will lead the R&D department, driving innovation and overseeing the development of new products and technologies. This role requires a visionary leader with a strong technical background and the ability to manage cross-functional teams. The Director of R&D will be responsible for setting the strategic direction for research initiatives, ensuring alignment with company goals, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement and technological advancement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Leadership: Develop and implement the R&D strategy, aligning it with the company's business objectives and market needs.

  • Innovation Management: Drive innovation by identifying new technologies, product opportunities, and market trends. Oversee the creation of prototypes, product testing, and the transition from R&D to production.

  • Team Management: Lead, mentor, and manage a team of scientists, engineers, and researchers. Foster a collaborative and high-performance work environment.

  • Project Oversight: Manage multiple R&D projects, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget, and meet quality standards.

  • Budget Management: Develop and manage the R&D budget, including resource allocation and cost control.

  • Collaboration: Work closely with other departments such as Marketing, Product Development, and Manufacturing to ensure that R&D efforts align with overall company goals.

  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure that all R&D activities comply with industry regulations, standards, and intellectual property laws.

  • Reporting: Provide regular updates to senior management on the progress of R&D projects, challenges, and successes.

Required Skills:

  • Technical Expertise: In-depth knowledge of R&D processes, methodologies, and tools. Experience in product development, prototyping, and testing.

  • Leadership: Strong leadership and team management skills with experience leading cross-functional teams in a fast-paced environment.

  • Strategic Thinking: Ability to think strategically and align R&D initiatives with business objectives.

  • Project Management: Proven track record of managing complex projects with multiple stakeholders. Proficiency in project management tools and methodologies.

  • Innovation and Creativity: Ability to foster a culture of innovation and creativity within the team.

  • Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to make data-driven decisions.

  • Communication Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to present complex ideas to both technical and non-technical audiences.

  • Industry Knowledge: Understanding of industry trends, market dynamics, and regulatory requirements relevant to the company's products and services.

  • Budget Management: Experience in managing budgets and financial forecasting for R&D activities.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Science, or a related field; a Master's or Ph.D. is preferred.

  • 8 to 12 years of experience in research and development, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.

  • Experience in the specific industry relevant to Augmentjobs' business focus is highly desirable.
