Marketing and Sales Coordinator, Books and Consumer Products

Department: BCP Sales and Marketing

Reports To: Director, Marketing

Highlights for Children is a family media brand that has been nurturing children with excellent, wholesome, and innovative products for more than 75 years. Highlights publications reach over two million children every month throughout the world. Our wide variety of “Fun with a Purpose” magazines, books and products are dedicated to helping children become their best selves—creative, curious, caring, and confident.

Position Summary:

The Marketing and Sales Coordinator supports the fast-paced and creative sales and marketing team in the Highlights Books and Consumer Products division. The coordinator will work to track project details, create presentations, oversee sales and marketing design projects, assist on trade show and event execution, organize media and account mailings, and more. This coordinator will regularly attend dynamic meetings with the team and accounts, all while gaining valuable project management, marketing, and sales experience.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide administrative support from scheduling meetings to coordinating mailings to tracking budgets
  • Create presentations to support the sales and marketing team
  • Assist on execution of trade shows and consumer events
  • Update and Maintain lists of accounts, reviewers, and sales reps for mailings and emails
  • Maintain inventory of book library and place orders for restock and new titles
  • Send out books and catalogs as needed to accounts
  • Coordinate reporting across the department (marketing and sales reports, POS resports, and more)
  • Learn and master all internal systems and software

  • Communicating with cross functional business stakeholders
  • Prioritize multiple responsibilities/projects and awareness of when help is needed
Within your first month, you’ll:
  • Demonstrate competence in MyHouse, STAR, Airtable, and other critical internal systems
  • Understand the roles and responsibilities of the sales and marketing team
  • Understand the long-term goals of the department and the overall enterprise business
Within your first year, you’ll:
  • Develop strong project management skills
  • Understand the workflow of the sales and marketing team
  • Develop a general understanding of the wider Highlights business
  • Develop strong, productive relationships with internal and external stakeholders

Supervisory Responsibilities: None

Education and Experience:

  • 1-2 years' experience working in Consumer Products; book industry preferred
  • Associate or Bachelor’s degree in liberal arts, Communication or Business is preferred
  • Proficiency in Word processing, Spreadsheets, and Presentation software is required
  • Experience supporting Sales and Marketing business teams is required
  • Experience managing and tracking a variety of data

  • Ability to travel up to 10%
