THE OPPORTUNITY

The Senior Accountant is responsible for managing and overseeing the daily operations of the accounting department, maintaining the general ledger, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, and assisting in the preparation and review of financial statements. This role involves supervising junior accounting staff, coordinating audits, and supporting the company’s financial goals through accurate reporting and analysis.


KEY JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Perform detailed account reconciliations in support of monthly close. Research out-of-balance accounts and trace journal entries and system-generated transactions to resolve and reconcile accounts.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records, including general ledger entries, accounts payable, and accounts receivable for all entities.
  • Prepare and process journal entries, ensuring proper documentation and approval for all entities.
  • Reconcile bank statements, credit card statements, and other financial accounts.
  • Assist with month-end and year-end closing processes, including preparing financial statements and supporting schedules.
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and company accounting policies.
  • Assist in creating policies and procedures to streamline accounting activities within all shared service entities.
  • Assist in the preparation of tax filings and support external audits as needed.
  • Assist in physical inventory management.
  • Assist in preparing financial reports, budgets, forecasts, and variance analyses.
  • Conduct financial analysis and modeling to support decision-making and strategic planning.
  • Monitor financial performance by analyzing key metrics and identifying trends, risks, and opportunities.
  • Collaborate with various departments to gather financial data and provide insights to improve business performance.
  • Support the development and implementation of financial policies, procedures, and controls.
  • Participate in special projects and initiatives as assigned by management.


QUALIFICATIONS

The ideal candidate will be well-versed in accounting principles, able to work comfortably with numbers, attentive to detail, and have proven experience as a junior accountant.

  • Recent experience actively participating in hands-on accounting, including journal entries, account reconciliations, month-end close, variance reviews, etc.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • 1-3 years of experience in accounting, financial analysis, or a related role.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP) and Microsoft Excel.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Knowledge of GAAP and financial analysis principles.
  • CPA (Certified Public Accountant) or CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst) certification, or working towards accreditation.
  • Experience with financial modeling and data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau).
