This rewarding position builds client relationships in the $50 billion metalcasting industry and serves as the primary representative of two industry focused magazines serving different target audiences in the eastern United States and eastern Canada. Sales opportunities include print and digital advertising, special edition supplements, directories, direct mail programs, webinars and other related products. No cap on commission revenue – unlimited opportunity. Great position for a self-starter who knows how to cultivate mutually rewarding business relationships.

Key Accountabilities:

  • (90%) Sell advertising for Modern Casting and Casting Source magazines (print and digital) and develop a consultative relationship with customers in assigned territories.
  • Oversee magazines promotion, sales tools and market research.
  • Oversee ad insertions and billing in the magazines.
  • Ability to meet production goals and provide status reports monthly.
  • Cold calling for new account generation is required regularly, with in-person sales visits to customer facilities required monthly.
  • (10%) Assist Business Development in maximizing revenue for AFS through projects assigned by VP of Marketing and Business Development or CEO.
  • Attend trade shows, chapter meetings and other events as assigned.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Skills or Experience:

  • The position requires a self-starter with the determination to maximize revenue and a proven record of sales growth.
  • A bachelor’s degree in marketing or PR is preferred; understanding trade/business magazine production is helpful.
  • Understanding the metalcasting industry and its metals and processes is helpful.
  • Must have strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must have computer knowledge of word processing software (MS Word); spreadsheet software (MS Excel), email programs (MS Office); and ability to learn other software programs.
  • Salesforce experience preferred.
  • Up to 20% - 30% travel required, including occasional evening/weekend travel and work.
  • Must have valid driver's license.
  • Must be able to read and write in English.
  • Must be self-motivated and possess the ability to work independently.

AFS provides members with advocacy efforts in Washington, D.C., technical education through its Institute, as well as the transfer of innovative research and technology to the industry, its suppliers and those who buy castings. Membership is individual or corporate and is made up of three markets, including: metalcasters and producers of metal cast parts; metalcasting suppliers; and casting buyers/original equipment manufacturers. Student membership is also extended to future leaders of the metalcasting industry at a nominal cost.
