Medical Biller Coordinator

JOB SUMMARY:

The Medical Biller Coordinator is responsible for submitting claims to health insurance companies to receive payment for services rendered by a healthcare provider. The medical biller needs to understand how to read medical records and be familiar with CPT®, HCPCS Level II, and ICD-10-CM codes. This role is also involved in the medical reimbursement cycle, working together with medical coders to ensure that healthcare providers are coding and creating medical documentation accurately and support services rendered.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

· Processes provider billing daily.

· Processes secondary billing as needed.

· Analyze all claims, identify all risks, and ensure processing of all claims as per company policy.

· Determining proper ICD-10 diagnoses codes based on provider documentation.

· Familiarity with special projects, claim re-submissions, and corrected claims processes.

· Possesses superior computer skills.

· Reacts positively to change and performs other duties as assigned.


POSITION RELATIONSHIPS

· Reports directly to the Billing Manager

· Subject to a 90-day probationary period

Requirements:

REQUIRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

· Minimum of (two) 2 years of billing and coding

· High School diploma or equivalent is required.

· Strong understanding of medical terminology and ICD-10 coding procedures

· Proficient understanding of Medical Billing Based on Medical Decision- Making (MDM) guidelines.
