Job Title: South Waterfront House Coordinator

Department: South Waterfront House at the Rood Family Pavilion

Reports To: House Managers

Classification: Regular, Full-time and Part-time, Hourly

The South Waterfront House Coordinator is an essential role that will help support families, programs, and space needs at Ronald McDonald House Charities of Oregon & SW Washington. The South Waterfront House team helps check-in families, offers support during guest stays, works with individual and group volunteers, and helps support families through a variety of different programs and services offered.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide a first point of contact for guest concerns at check-in and throughout their stay. This includes orienting guests to facility amenities, check-out items, basic support on how the room operates, and providing an overall customer-service and solution-oriented approach to ensure guest experience is as smooth as possible.
  • Prepare for all incoming guest check-ins including making keys and information packets.
  • Support all guest check-outs including receiving keys, reminder calls, and other support as needed.
  • Connect guests to community spaces and other support resources such as welcome bags, in-house programming, meals, and more.
  • Ensure family resources are available and stocked, such as welcome gifts, toys, art supplies, clothing, food items, and more.
  • Welcome and coordinate individual and group volunteers who help with various tasks including enrichment activities, and other service projects.
  • Collaborate with the Family Placement and Operations teams on reservation support, Housekeeping and room readiness tasks as needed. This means being a great partner to our team of people all working to make sure our buildings are clean, efficient, and welcoming.
  • Support the Food Program Manager by working with volunteer meal groups and helping to facilitate additional aspects of the food program such as pantry and snack distribution, etc.
  • Work closely with team members to assess and implement family support programs and communications, such as the weekly activity calendar and other guest communication.
  • Help support the communal spaces by cleaning, organizing, and doing dishes on a regular basis.

Other Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Help gather family feedback on the guest survey and through other means.
  • Intake, distribute, and organize in-kind donations (items and food).
  • Ability to pick-up and swap shifts with coworkers as needed to accommodate scheduling needs.
Requirements:

Skills Required:

  • Strong customer service skills and a guest first attitude.
  • Ability to work with families in crisis, and people of all ages and backgrounds.
  • Active listening skills.
  • Critical thinking skills and ability to triage requests, responding in a calm, professional, positive manner.
  • Computer proficiency including Microsoft Office Suite applications.
  • Flexibility regarding work assignments and changing demands/priorities.
  • Knowledge of food safety and proper food storage, as well as basic understanding for serving meals to large groups of people.
  • Strong attention to detail in regard to organization and cleanliness of spaces.
  • Ability to effectively communicate in both a verbal and written manner.
  • Proficiency in speaking and writing in Spanish (preferred)


Experience Required:

  • At least 2 years of customer service, with a preference for experience in a hospitality field, social services, or hospital setting.
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience working closely with children and families.
  • Experience delivering services under a Trauma informed care lens. (preferred)
  • Experience working in a food services setting (preferred)


Educational Requirements:

High school degree or GED

Bachelor’s degree (preferred)


Work Environment:

  • Most work will be conducted in either an office, community program area or a kitchen environment.
  • Requires frequent walking across the various community spaces.
  • Work will be primarily indoors.
  • Employee may be required to lift up to 30lbs.
  • May need to adjust schedule as needed.
