Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) of Oregon & SW Washington is a dedicated non-profit entity, part of a global network of 260 independent RMHC chapters. Our mission is to support families with children facing health challenges, ensuring they have the necessary resources for optimal health outcomes. In our local operations, we manage multiple Ronald McDonald Houses and Hospitality Cart programs, focusing on providing essential services that alleviate stress and foster healing during difficult times.

Position Summary

The Guest House Coordinator plays a vital role in delivering exceptional service and support to families residing at the OHSU Rood Family Pavilion. This position is integral to creating a nurturing environment, assisting families during their stay while they receive medical care. Coordinators work collaboratively to ensure that families feel welcomed and supported, managing check-ins and check-outs, engaging with community volunteers, and facilitating meals and activities for families with seriously ill children.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as the primary contact for guests during check-in, check-out, and throughout their stay.
  • Facilitate connections between guests and community resources, as well as in-house programs, by distributing welcome items and overseeing events.
  • Ensure that family resources are adequately stocked and that communal areas are kept clean and organized, in collaboration with the housekeeping team.
  • Welcome and manage volunteers, both individual and group, to enhance the guest experience.
  • Support the Meals from the Heart initiative by coordinating with volunteer meal groups and maintaining food supplies.

Additional Duties:

  • Provide room reservation assistance to the Family Placement Team as needed.
  • Participate in on-call duties on a rotating basis.
  • Uphold security and emergency protocols for staff, volunteers, and guests.
  • Assist with various tasks as assigned.

Work Environment:

This role primarily takes place in an office setting, with occasional attendance at events that may occur indoors or outdoors, possibly in varying weather conditions. Employees may need to lift items weighing up to 30 pounds and stand for extended periods during events.

Qualifications:

Experience: A minimum of one year of relevant work experience is required, ideally in customer service, social services, healthcare, childcare, or hospitality.

Skills:

  • Demonstrated enthusiasm and strong customer service abilities.
  • Ability to interact with diverse groups, showing sensitivity and diplomacy.
  • Basic proficiency in computer applications, including email, Word, Excel, and database management.
  • Capability to manage multiple priorities effectively under pressure.
  • Fluency in Spanish is highly desirable.
