The Assistant Dean of Academics and Student Services works closely with the Dean of Academics and Student Services to oversee the function of the Competency Based Education Campus. This position is located in Knoxville, TN.


The Assistant Dean of Academics and Student Services assists the Dean of Academics and Student services who is the chief academic officer at the campus level and is responsible for the effective administration of the academic programs for all divisions of the campus and academic support operations that include the registrar and student services.

The Assistant Dean of Academics and Student Services is a full-time employee. A minimum of forty office hours per week is required. This position will work out of the CBE space within the South College Parkside Campus in Knoxville, TN.

Broad Responsibilities:

· Assist in providing coordination and overall daily supervision of the academic functions and personnel at the campus.

· Assist in providing coordination and overall daily supervision of the student services staff and student services programs at the campus (library, registrar, director of student success), as well as facilitate collaboration with the functional leadership in these areas.

· Assist in provide continuing attention to matters of scholarly activity, in-service training, and performance review for academic personnel at this Site.

· Assure that office, classroom, and laboratory space and equipment are efficiently utilized at this Site.

· Maintain and have available detailed records for each faculty member at this Site, showing each faculty member's training, experience, and record of service to the college. Such records shall be maintained on a current basis.

· Assist in coordination for Site activities relating to reviewing and handling of personnel and student matters (i.e., disciplinary, conduct, etc.) and communicate with the Dean of Academics and Student Services pertinent information and recommended actions.

· Assist in overseeing annual budgets with academic departments and student service units.

· Prepare and compile regular periodic administrative, faculty, and student services performance evaluations as appropriate.

· Participate in annual revision of the college catalog and other periodic revisions to policy manuals, job descriptions, etc.

· Participate in activities relating to the development and evaluation of new and existing programs.

· Prepare, or assist in preparation, of applicable reports to accrediting, state, federal, or other agencies.

· Ensure participation of assigned representatives from the Learning Site in institutional committees

Earned PhD or Doctorate, minimum of a Master’s degree and progress towards earning a terminal degree required

Experience:

Fluency in data driven practices and data analysis required. Appropriate Educational & Professional Experience. Five years of professional experience in CBE, and higher education greatly preferred. Experience in teaching at the doctoral level preferred. Experience in program assessments and outcome measures. Experience in accreditation processes. Experience and knowledge of
