The Office of One Stop Student Services at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, is currently seeking applications for the role of Student Services Advisor.

We are looking for individuals who can significantly enhance the accessibility of higher education, promote a diverse and inclusive academic atmosphere, and contribute to the recruitment and graduation efforts of our student body.

Position Overview:

This role is primarily on-campus with some flexibility for hybrid or remote work arrangements.

This position is part of a centralized team within One Stop Student Services that emphasizes a student-centered approach to delivering high-quality service, ensuring an exceptional and seamless experience that supports student success and aligns with institutional objectives for recruitment, retention, and graduation.

The advisor will be cross-trained to provide front-line assistance to students (prospective, current, former, alumni), parents/families, and other members of the campus community in areas such as Undergraduate Admissions, University Registrar, Financial Aid and Scholarships, and the Bursar.

This role serves as the initial point of contact for students, addressing inquiries and providing general information, while also triaging complex enrollment issues and escalating them to the appropriate specialists as necessary.

Qualifications:

Required Education and Experience:

High School diploma with 5 years of customer service experience, or

Associate degree with 3 years of customer service experience, or

Bachelor's degree with 1 year of customer service experience.

Preferred Education and Experience:

Bachelor's degree with 1 year of customer service experience.

  • Experience in higher education, particularly in enrollment, admissions, financial aid, registrar, and bursar/student accounts.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Outstanding customer service skills and understanding of basic service etiquette
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills; public speaking abilities
  • Proficient in clear, concise, and accurate writing
  • Ability to engage effectively with individuals of all ages and diverse backgrounds
  • Team-oriented mindset
  • Capability to analyze and interpret data and make independent decisions; accountable for those decisions
  • Willingness to attend meetings, events, and functions on and off campus, including weekends and evenings as required
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic, customer-focused environment
  • Highly motivated, focused, and results-driven
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Familiarity with higher education, enrollment services, and student development
  • Understanding of the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, including institutional and unit policies, procedures, and processes
