Job Description: We are seeking a meticulous and experienced Payroll Accountant join our finance team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in payroll processing, accounting principles, and compliance with federal and state regulations. As a Payroll Accountant, you will play a critical role in ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing, maintaining financial records, and supporting our overall financial operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Process payroll for all employees accurately and on time.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll, wage, and hour laws and best practices.
  • Prepare and maintain accurate records and reports of payroll transactions.
  • Reconcile payroll-related accounts and prepare journal entries.
  • Collaborate with HR and other departments to ensure accurate employee data management.
  • Assist in the preparation of payroll-related tax filings and reports.
  • Address and resolve employee inquiries regarding payroll issues.
  • Participate in audits and ensure payroll information is up-to-date and compliant with regulations.
  • Continuously review and improve payroll processes to increase efficiency and accuracy.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (is a plus).
  • Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) designation is a plus.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in payroll accounting or a similar role.
  • Strong understanding of payroll processes, laws, and regulations.
  • Proficiency in payroll software (e.g., ADP, Paycom, QuickBooks) and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
