Peterson Scharck & Associates (PSA) is seeking candidates for the Lighting Controls Applications Specialist position within PSA’s Systems & Controls Team. A Lighting Controls Applications Specialist is responsible for the design, quotation, and submittal of lighting controls projects. This position is based in Houston, Texas. Travel will be limited to occasional manufacturer training events. Our work environment is a fast-paced and exciting sales culture that stresses collaboration and teamwork. of the fastest-growing and most exciting areas of the commercial lighting industry.


Duties and Responsibilities

  • Expected to develop and maintain expertise in the application and use of the lighting controls systems offered by PSA.
  • Review engineering drawings and create material takeoffs to meet the design intent for the project
  • Create lighting control submittal drawings utilizing AutoCAD and Bluebeam software
  • Create construction sets detailing all aspects of control system installation and programming
  • Review project drawings and construction specifications as related to lighting and controls.
  • Produce lighting control systems designs compliant with the specifications and the sequence of operations.
  • Perform take-offs of lighting controls systems from construction documents.
  • Produce lighting controls quotations and submittals with accuracy and in a timely manner.
  • Track project changes to keep the quotations and submittals up to date.
  • Log all requests and communication related to the project in Basecamp.
  • Self educate on the latest in code requirements driving lighting control design
  • Maintain expertise on the latest products from the manufacturers

Skills and Education

  • Strong time management and organizational skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit and BlueBeam Revu design and estimating tools.
  • Knowledge of IECC, Title 24, ASHRAE and other relevant Energy Codes.
  • Knowledge of basic electrical systems in commercial applications.
  • Proficiency in reading electrical schematic drawings.
  • Reliable and self-motivated individual able to function in a fast-paced setting.

Job Type: Full-time

Compensation Plan: PSA will provide a comprehensive compensation package commensurate
with your experience and qualifications and competitive with market compensation customary
for this position.
