Job DescriptionJob Description

We are seeking a Meteorologist & Client Operations Specialist to join our team The candidate will be able to apply their knowledge and experience in meteorology to assist the client operation specialist team. They should be able to analyze and interpret meteorological data, and should have solid knowledge of atmospheric physics and chemistry. The candidate will have direct development responsibility for supporting an enterprise software system (SaaS model) ensuring the safety of our national infrastructure and the clients that use the systems. They will be developing novel applications for the latest open source technologies, liaising with the engineering team, and interacting directly with clients to develop solutions supporting their needs. The Meteorologist & Client Operations Specialist should be an effective communicator, organized, and a motivated self-starter as they will be working with a small team in a fast-paced environment and will be working with a great deal of responsibility and flexibility with limited supervision.

Responsibilities:

  • Studying and predicting the Earth's weather and climate patterns
  • Analyzing atmospheric conditions and data from various sources
  • Researching and predicting climate changes
  • Keeping up-to-date with technological developments
  • Analyzing and recording data from global weather stations, satellites, and radars.
  • Making interpretations from the land, sea, and atmosphere patterns
  • Professionally and efficiently handle all inquiries from clients pertaining to system support
  • Proactively communicate with clients or business partners on issues and obtain and/or present solutions to issues
  • Prepare all client- related data for account establishment and maintenance
  • Perform all account research as necessary
  • Update client information related to client systems
  • Maintain a task list and schedule for client support and maintenance tasks
  • Organize and maintain all client data files
  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive understanding of client systems and company- to-client relationships
  • Develop and/or support databases and geospatial shape files using open source and licensed software products
  • Assist as needed in client-related training activities and new client forums (which may include travel)
  • Assist in the ongoing development and implementation of a real-time mission-critical enterprise system
  • Help drive functional requirements definition by observing, interacting with, and gathering feedback from Engineering and Sales Teams
  • Responsible for functional and usability testing of all client accessible interfaces
  • Assist development team with system updates and perform quality control testing

 

 

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Meteorology
  • 2 to 3 years in related meteorology field.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and team skills
  • Excellent organizational skills and time management
  • Familiarity with hosted software products (SaaS/ASP), Databases, and GIS/Mapping tools
  • Familiarity with Client software life cycle from integration to maintenance
  • Familiarity with change management/testing tools used in the software development lifecycle
  • Experience working with State and/or Federal Agencies preferred but not required
