Position Overview

Evolver Federal is in search of dedicated and proactive individuals to join our team as telecommunications cable specialists. This role involves supporting a government client with various cabling tasks.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Contribute to the cabling team by managing the installation, organization, and development of CAT5/6, low voltage, and fiber optic cables, ensuring compliance with industry standards and manufacturer guidelines.
  • Conduct site surveys to facilitate the installation of network drops.
  • Focus on the termination of cables, ensuring secure connections to endpoints such as patch panels and devices, while maintaining organized cabling in designated areas.
  • Evaluate assigned tasks and provide estimated completion timelines to the appropriate contacts.
  • Install new copper and fiber drops across the client site, including testing for functionality.
  • Generate regular reports detailing cable terminations and any modifications.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation regarding cable terminations, labeling, and patch panel assignments.
  • Troubleshoot common cabling issues using fault isolation techniques.
Basic Qualifications:
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in cabling.
  • At least 2 years of familiarity with CAT6 and fiber standards.
  • 2 years of experience in cable troubleshooting and fault isolation.
  • 2 years of experience in testing cables for continuity and signal quality.
  • Basic understanding of OSHA regulations.
  • 2 years of experience with ST, SC, and MT-RJ fiber optic connectors.
  • 2 years of experience utilizing digital multimeters and NETSCOUT Network and Cable testers.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • 5 years of experience in cabling.
  • 3 years of expertise with CAT6 and fiber standards.
  • 3 years of experience in cable troubleshooting and fault isolation.
  • 3 years of experience in testing cables for continuity and signal quality.
  • CompTIA Network+ certification.
  • Cisco Certified Support Technician (CCST) certification.
  • Certified Fiber Optic Technician (CFOT) certification.
  • BICSI Installer 1 (INST1) certification.
  • BICSI Technician (Tech) certification.
