We are seeking an Accounting Specialist to support the needs of Foundation and Funds. This role serves our donors by supporting foundations and funds and the general accounting department.
Our ideal candidate possesses:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related field is required;
- 1+ years of applicable accounting experience is required;
- Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and practices are required;
- Experience in a nonprofit or government agency is preferred, but not required;
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office products is required;
- Experience with Blackbaud/Financial Edge NXT or a similar software is a plus, but not required.
A day in the life of an Accounting Specialist – Funds and Foundation may include, but is not limited to, the following activities:
- Processing donor requests in our system, Financial Edge (FE) NXT & Grant Edge (GE) NXT;
- Record Foundation receivables, payables, & cash activity that leads into the production of Foundation financial statements;
- Create and book transactions related to activity associated with donor restrictions;
- Coordinating with the Accounts Payable & Grants Payable Specialist to process payments;
- Fixed Assets & Prepaid Expenses including monthly reconciliations;
- Additional job duties as assigned.
